Message from the LOUD Board

Photo: belle ancell photography

Welcome to the 2017/18 LOUD Business Directory Welcome to this year’s directory! 2016 has been a spectacular year for LOUD and the LOUD Foundation. Now, more than ever, LOUD stands for Leadership, Opportunity, Unity and Diversity. Our three pillars—Networking, Community & Philanthropy—drive all of our activities and unite our members. This year was yet another year of growth as we expanded our scholarship program, welcomed new community partners and gave our membership new options to expand their personal and professional networks. Our calendar was full with events year-round. Our LOUD Lunches, LOUD Lounge and special breakfasts continued to be very popular and to exemplify our ability to bridge business, community and philanthropy to everyone’s benefit. LOUD Lounge has been a way to connect with other members in a more relaxed setting in addition to delicious food and drink. Our annual holiday party was held in the 6

Olympic Village and saw over 70 members and non-members mix, mingle and celebrate our collective successes. Community and philanthropy was at the forefront of our activities as well. LOUD participated in both the Vancouver and New West Pride festival, iconic pink LOUD umbrellas in hand. We also continued to strengthen our relationship with our neighbours to the south, through the Western Business Alliance annual conference in Seattle, as well as being active members of the Canadian Gay & Lesbian Chamber of Commerce, based in Toronto and with chapters in each province. We were especially pleased to not only receive more applications for scholarships than we ever have, but to receive them from every corner of the province. The LOUD, PrideYouth and Jim Deva Memorial Fund scholarships are supported by our partnerships with the West End Slo-pitch Association, Frontrunners, Positive Living BC and many generous individual donors.

Message from the LOUD board

Photo: belle ancell photography Thanks to this growing support, we awarded 10 scholarships in 2016 and plan to increase this number again in 2017. The LOUD Gala was held at the TELUS Garden rooftop, which provided a stunning backdrop to honour our many recipients and celebrate the strength of our community. 2016 was also the year that TD returned as a presenting sponsor. We cannot think of a better representative of our shared values. TD continues to lead the way in employee diversity and inclusion and we are grateful to be partnering with them to bolster this vision for a better tomorrow built together. We couldn’t be more proud of our community and its ability to band together to support each other, celebrate our differences and improves our businesses and lives by sharing in our challenges and successes. Here’s to another year of building belonging. Thank you for your support and for all that you do. With much love, The LOUD Board
