RURAL FOCUS

WHAT AN EXCITING TIME TO BE IN BEEF! It’s been a long time coming, and the bush is long overdue for a good run. There are a number of sound global fundamentals suggesting Australian beef will be highly sought after for many years, and together with a number of industry initiatives (namely MSA and PCAS), our global competitive advantage will be hard to replicate for our Australian bred and raised, safety assured, high-eating quality beef. It’s exciting also as new on-farm and beef processing technology will be commercially available within the next few years that will help to drive costs down and allow us to be more efficient. For example, bio tattoos will be available soon to apply to an animal’s nose, and through hormone release will detect pregnancy, stress, onset of calving and any other hormone related signals. Value based marketing and more objective carcase assessments will also reduce inefficiencies, mitigate inaccurate grading, improve yield and eating quality indicators, and therefore indicators such as butt shape and dentition can be made obsolete. More accurate genomic tests are also set to be the

next revolution in beef genetics. All of this new been sensibly prepared to thrive in their new technology will help to create greater value working environments. back to the farm gate. CHINCHILLA MUSEUM FAMILY FUN DAY The Chinchilla museum held a very successful Family Fun day on 25th June at the museum. About 350 people braved the cold and breezy weather to enjoy the large inflatable slide, obstacle course and the smaller inflatable’s for the littlies. The two trains ran nonstop to accommodate all the passengers. Hubert and his helpers provided camp oven roast meat for the meat rolls and gravy, damper and spotted dog (plum pudding)and custard were added to the menu this year which was very popular. Ray Lloyd’s music added to the relaxed atmosphere of the day. Support from Cameby Downs Mine and CS Energy for small community events such as the Family Fun day enable not for profit organisations such as the museum to hold events for the local community to enjoy. The committee were pleased with the day and are thinking about what to do for next year. Words: Cath Brandon Images Jessica Courtnie Photography

CLOUD ACCOUNTING ROADSHOW Business Accounting Software – When it Rains it Pours The business accounting software industry has been in a state of rapid development over the past five years. The result of this has been an explosion in new cloud based accounting software solutions, all promising ease of use, more efficient processing of data and compliance. The move towards these cloud solutions has its benefits, but many people are still wondering which one to use. While some accounting firms have aligned themselves exclusively with one software provider, EnVision Partners do not believe this to be in the best interests of our customers. Our own experience is that there is no such thing as perfect software. With this in mind, it is important that businesses review their current bookkeeping and accounting systems and establish if these systems have the ability to address current and future business needs. If they do not, it is important to then select a software solution which best meets these needs. EnVision Partners have already assisted many businesses in reviewing their bookkeeping systems and selecting the best solutions for their needs, however, we do not leave it there.

The only way to achieve the full benefit from your software applications is through training. EnVision Partners have developed our own training and support programs, to help maximise the benefits business owners can generate from the software they are using. If you have not yet made a decision on which product to use and are interested in learning more about what options are available, EnVision Partners are in the process of arranging for three of the most popular software developers (being Xero, MYOB and Reckon), along with other developers to visit our region during September. This is a great opportunity for you to learn directly from the developers themselves, the benefits of their various solutions and have the opportunity to compare and evaluate each product. EnVision Partners are currently finalising dates and venues and would be delighted to hear from all business owners wanting to register their interest to attend the presentations. Those who register will then receive an invitation and updates regarding the event and the presenters attending. Please register your interest by contacting EnVision Partners today.

THE SUCCESSFUL TREATMENT OF ACNE NEEDS A HOLISTIC APPROACH If you have acne, you are not alone. Did you know that eight in ten teenagers will develop some form of acne? It more often occurs in boys and some cases of this common skin condition will be more severe than others. The good news is that it can be treated but it is important to seek early professional advice to avoid scarring, especially for acne that has become inflamed. The staff at Cosmetic Elegance Clinic are especially conscious of the psychological effect acne has on young lives and tailor their treatments to suit each individual. Dr Eddie Roos says, “We take a holistic approach to assessment and treatment. We take into consideration a person’s skin type, acne, age group and lifestyle and develop a treatment plan accordingly. Not all acne is the same and not all skin is the same, so there is no one treatment that will work for everyone.”

If you have acne, you are not alone. Not all acne is the same and not all skin is the same, so there is no one treatment that will work for everyone.” What causes acne? The most common causes are genetic, hormonal, environmental and dietary factors. Acne typically affects areas of skin where there is an overproduction of oil. Pustules and papules develop as a result of blockages in follicles caused by oil and dead skin cells. This is often compounded by bacteria, which leads to inflammation and can result in scarring. Seeking professional treatment It is important to seek professional advice because incorrect treatment of acne can be harmful to your skin. Over washing and the application of inappropriate products can cause irritation. At Cosmetic Elegance Clinic they recommend a three-pronged approach which includes: • treatment using the latest technology • a prescription of skin care, and • compliance with your home skin care routine and dietary advice as recommended by your Skin Care Consultant

Treatment plans at Cosmetic Elegance Clinic feature the very latest in scientific technology including Dermasound Facial Treatments, Microdermabrasion, Intense Pulsed Light (IPL) therapy and Copper Bromide Laser treatment. Combining the recommended treatment with a personalized prescription of Glymed skin products will ensure that your skin has the best opportunity to heal, rejuvenate and glow. Reducing Scarring Laser and other light-based therapies are often used to treat acne and acne scarring. Light therapy targets the bacteria that cause acne inflammation whilst also improving skin texture and lessening the appearance of acne scarring. The technology in use at Cosmetic Elegance Clinic means they can offer you treatments with shorter or virtually no down-time to achieve the best results for your skin. Dr Roos emphasises the importance of committing to the program recommended by your Skin Care Consultant to ensure that you get the most out of the treatment. Cosmetic Elegance Clinic is proud of the high success rate they achieve in treating acne and scarring and Dr Roos and his team of professional Skin Care Consultants gain enormous pleasure from seeing the self-esteem and confidence of their clients being restored. Everyone wants to get rid of their acne as quickly as possible but it does not resolve overnight, so patience and commitment to the treatment plan is important. The relationship we have with our skin is something we all have to work at, but through constant care and good habits over the long term, beautiful clear skin can be more than just a dream. If you would like further information about treating acne or acne scarring, call the friendly and professional team at Cosmetic Elegance Clinic on 07 4638 2700 or email them at info@cosmeticelegance.com.au
