ORIGIN UPDATE As I drive around the region and see all of our construction and operational works, I am encouraged by knowing that we support local suppliers where we can. Our local content approach means that we try to create opportunities for local businesses to participate in our Australia Pacific LNG Project and help to build capabilities that are aligned with our HSE principles. We believe that our success relies on building a local supplier base and developing local talent. This is evident in our recent spend numbers. I am delighted that we have spent over $370 million in the Western Downs region on our Project activity (to September 2013). We will continue supporting local content and local jobs. In fact, more than 10,000 people have been involved in the delivery of our Project to date. If you are interested in becoming a supplier for our Project, the online Industry Capability Network (ICN) enables potential suppliers to register their interest in the Project and access information on tender opportunities. Almost 2,000 suppliers have registered their interest and around 50% of these have identified Queensland as their primary location. Willie McLean is also available to provide you with a helping hand to guide you in the right direction as to how you may become part of our supply team. I encourage interested suppliers to register their details, but please note that becoming a supplier does take considerable time and input. It may take a reasonably long time and requires patience, but it is worth the effort in the end. We have also established the Tier Barometer Assessment Tool, which helps potential suppliers measure their capabilities. The tool can also show the additional skills and training that may be needed to successfully tender for work. To date, 875 Australia Pacific LNG suppliers have used the Tier Barometer Assessment Tool to assess their position in our supply chain. We encourage you to utilise this tool if you haven’t already taken a look. We recently ran supplier information sessions in Chinchilla, Roma and Toowoomba. These sessions help to improve understanding of our procurement processes and showcase opportunities for businesses to participate. Sessions are held regularly, so we hope you can attend future sessions if you missed out on the last ones. Until next time, take care and stay safe over the holiday period. Merry Christmas!

Starting out in business can be like starting out in life. You take your first steps. You’re a bit tentative at first, you might even stumble a few times. But then you get some momentum up and get on a roll, and you find the business starts to kick some goals. But, as we know life throws at us many challenges and you might face a hurdle or two. You might find the business goes through a growth spurt, maybe hits some challenging ‘adolescent’ years and at times you feel you are teetering on the edge. However, with time, strategy and good advice, you tread through the tough times and manage to get the business firm and steady. You reach that exciting stage, when you are able to plan for the future and move into retirement years in the way that suits you. And you rest easy knowing you’ve done your best, enjoyed the adventure and are able to reap the rewards. No matter what stage your business is at, or where you are on life’s journey, you need advisers you can trust who will stand beside you. We’re not just accountants. We’re your business adviser and your sounding board. Whether you’re just starting out or ready to retire,
we’re with you every step of the way. www.bmo.com.au 178 Drayton St Dalby 07 4662 3722
