Poor Time Management – How much is this costing your business? In today’s business environment, technology has made us more and more accessible to the people we conduct business with. Wherever we go, our business comes with us. This accessibility has resulted in a culture that expects immediate attention and results. Due to these expectations, we strive to answer every email, phone call and text as soon as possible. We stop everything to see who is trying to communicate with us instead of remaining focused on the current task at hand. What we are doing is allowing ourselves to be distracted many times a day. How many of us come home after a busy day wondering what we did for the day and why we never have enough time to get things done? If you multiply these disruptions across all of your employees, how much time and money is being wasted each day? We have all been told that our time is limited and that time is the most valuable commodity in our life, but this is not true! Let’s look at it this way, if you are wasting time and not maximising it, time is not a valuable commodity. We need to accept that we cannot really manage time, that we have no way to slow it down to complete a task, and that it just keeps going on.
You don’t manage time, you manage yourself! When we say that time is a valuable commodity, what we are really saying is that if you can manage yourself and use time well, then it will be an amazing asset in your life and to your business.
On the other hand, if you and your employees are not managing yourselves, this will result in time not being used well and this will be costing you and your business. Business owners need to take care to ensure that effective time management strategies are being implemented and maintained by themselves and their employees. Remember, everyone is allocated the same amount of time each day. How you manage yourself to use this time will have a significant impact on how your business performs. EnVision Partners has been conducting complimentary Business Needs Analyses over the past few months with business owners. One of the most common needs business owners identified was the need to manage themselves and use their time more effectively. In response to this, EnVision Partners have arranged for a world renowned time management expert to conduct a workshop in Chinchilla in the new financial year. Further details will be available in the near future. If you are interested in attending the workshop or would like EnVision Partners to conduct a complimentary Business Needs Analysis with your business, please contact the office or email us on admin@envision.com.au.
