DALBY PICNIC RACES

The leaves are changing colour, evenings are getting cooler and the days shorter, as we head towards this year’s Carlton Mid Dalby Picnic Races to be held on Saturday 30th April. The 104th running of the Calton Mid Dalby Picnic Races will feature a seven race programme with over $70,000 in prize money and bonuses on offer. All races on the day will be broadcast on Sky Racing and boast TAB coverage, along with being shown on the Warrego Water Big Screen, so attendees will not miss a thing. For those guests who have always had a desire to be a horse owner – why not try and draw a horse for the main race in the BMO Calcutta. With crowds of well over 3,000 expected, the event is shaping up to be a fantastic day of country racing. The ‘city meets bush’ atmosphere attracts a mixture of corporate guests and social racegoers from throughout Queensland and interstate and the Dalby Amateur Picnic Race Club Committee is dedicated to ensuring this day remains a stand out event for the region and the Dalby community.

Highlife Ad - Update

Fashion goers are preparing their mid-Autumn race outfits for another fantastic day of fashion, fun and racing. This year’s Dalby Shoppingworld Fashions on the Field will offer contestants the chance to win over $7,500 in cash and prizes. Last year the Lowes Menswear Best Dressed Gentleman category boasted over 75 entrants with the title being taken out by a very well dressed young Dalby man. For the ladies we have three categories – Katrina’s Hair Design Classic Ladies, Telstra Shop Dalby Contemporary Lady and Amcal Pharmacy best hat – and we must not forget the Eyecare Eyewear Best Dressed Couple. With several different function areas available on the day, there is something to suit every racegoer. All-inclusive packages, serving Brown Brothers Wines and Carlton United beers are available in the Finishing Post Marquee and Home Straight Lounge. For those wishing to bring a picnic hamper and reserve a table with friends, the Black Toyota Marquee is ideal! The ever-popular Treehouse precinct is back this year, kindly sponsored by O’Shea’s Windsor Hotel Dalby. The Windsor Treehouse is a great party area – with large screen, two

bars over two levels and an all-inclusive beer and wine package. The success of the picnics would be limited without the continued support of our sponsors mentioned above and our new supporters this year – Oakey Beef Export and RMA Engineers. The history of the Dalby Amateur Picnic Race Club dates back to early 1901 when a meeting of local pastoralists was held at Dalby’s Royal Hotel, resulting in the first Dalby Picnic Races being held on Easter Monday, 1902 at the Dalby race track. And while many things have changed since then, the tradition of country racing and community spirit lives on through this race meeting. The race club prides itself on giving back to the local community, by distributing funds raised on the race day to various local community groups. Tickets are available from Black Toyota or online.
