GENERAL RESPONSIBILITIES To model Christian commitment and faith in and out of school. To be a school leader in evangelism, discipleship, community, peace, service, social justice, and reconciliation. Actively participating in the lives of students and leading them toward the fulfillment of their potential for intellectual, emotional, and psychological growth and maturation. SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES Instruction: 1. Daily lesson plans are created in advance and follow the course curriculum map 2. Unit goals and daily goals are listed in class and referred to on a daily basis 3. Plan a program of study that considers the individual needs, interests, and abilities of all students 4. Use a variety of appropriate methods and materials to implement instructional plans 5. Goals/activities are appropriate and interesting to engage student’s interest 6. Demonstrate an enthusiasm for teaching which includes a commitment of time, effort, and availability 7. Utilize a variety of methods of assessment and provide quality feedback 8. Assess the accomplishments of students on a regular basis and record assessment information at least weekly 9. Maintain accurate, complete, and correct attendance, evaluative, and disciplinary records as required by law, school policy, and administrative regulations 1
10. Seek the assistance of administrators, counselors or fellow teachers to help diagnose the learning disabilities of students and to help develop methods to meet the needs of these students 11. Demonstrate a personal relationship with Christ as you support faith based instruction Classroom Environment: 1. Classroom management plan in place that includes reasonable rules of classroom behavior and procedures consistent with school policy that maintain order in the classroom in a fair and just manner 2. Take all necessary and reasonable precautions to protect students, equipment, materials and facilities 3. The classroom environment is conducive to learning, appropriate to the maturity and interest level of students, and is organized and orderly 4. Teacher/student interactions are appropriate and transitions are efficient 5. Assume the responsibility to discipline students whenever needed at school activities or on the school campus. When something goes to a more serious level you are responsible to send the student to the Dean of Students or inform an administrator on site 6. Take seriously the responsibility to be a positive role model for students. Give special emphasis to modeling honesty, courtesy, good grooming, being an informed citizen, respecting the law and the dignity of honest labor and any other examples which tend to develop productive and responsible members of society Community Relations: 1. Establish and maintain cooperative relations with staff, students and parents 2. Be properly prepared to provide extensive information on your students when requested to do so by a parent 3. Demonstrate good listening skills by considering a students or parent’s point of view; giving productive feedback that is considerate, tactful, and professional in manner 4. Assist the administration in implementing all policies and/or rules governing student conduct 5. Lead a small group and provide input and careful planning for growth and development of the members 6. Assume full responsibility for planning an authentic mini-term experience. This includes extensive preliminary planning with comprehensively planned activities which focus on the objectives of the mini-term. The mini-term instructor is responsible to assure that the timeline for planning and execution of mini-term is followed closely 7. Obey all laws of the State of Oregon and serve as a role model reflecting a Christian lifestyle Professional Growth: 1. Maintain State of Oregon teacher certification 2. Demonstrate sincere interest in content area pursuing professional growth opportunities through an ongoing program of reading, workshops, seminars, conferences and/or advanced course work 3. Observe ethical standards of professional conduct, including copyright laws and acceptable use of the internet 2
4. Be prepared to be involved in functions outside of the classroom such as committee member, class advisor, ticket taker at basketball or volleyball games, chaperone for field trips, banquets, etc. 5.
