Meet Steve Otero As an Air Force veteran looking to further his education after serving 12 years, including combat tours in Iraq and Afghanistan, Steve Otero wasn’t sure a traditional university was right for him. “I was admittedly afraid of going to a [campus-based] university. However, after speaking with a number of professors on campus, I decided to take the leap and go to school in person rather than online,” Steve said.

STEM AT WESTERN western.edu/stem
Though Western’s academic roots are in the arts and humanities, we bring the same curiosity and problem-solving orientation to our technical fields as well. Employers tell us they’re looking for engineers, biologists and technology professionals who can do more than execute and program; they’re looking for thinkers and leaders who analyze critically, write well, and have both the hard and soft skills needed to succeed in fast-changing industries.
