Westfield: Which of this season’s trends do you think are the easiest for people to incorporate into their wardrobe?
Westfield: What are some tips you have for shoppers looking to get a runway look on an off-runway budget?
Stacy: Cinching your waist will be a cinch. (Ha ha.)
Using belts, fitted jackets and fuller skirts will help you define a waist and create the sought after hourglass silhouette this season. Military is still uber on trend and easy to do for casual weekend with a great pair of cargo pants. Add a chunky knit to the mix this year for mixing in new texture.
Stacy: Know where to invest your money. Spend more for classic items with a twist that will last over time, and less on trendy pieces that you want for a season. Almost every trend will come out at different price points. Decide your shopping budget ahead of time and know what you are willing to spend on seasonal pieces.

consider other ways to make your outfit stand out and create visual interest. The cut of your clothing is always most important but consider using texture (like tweeds or knits) and shine (embellishment or metallics) to take monochromatic to the next level.

kidding. Make sure the shoe feels comfortable, obviously. That your toes aren’t smushed, that your heel doesn’t slip. If the soles are smooth after I buy them, I usually score the bottoms with a key, to create a little traction when I walk. I wear new shoes around the house for a bit before wearing them out. I wear them in a bit and mold them to my feet.

cinched waist Fall into the cinched waist trend that will accentuate a small waist and help create one if needed. Belts of all shapes and sizes were seen on the runway so you can wear one that’s right for you.

dressed up minis Minis came adorned with fringe, tiers and in the latest metallic tones this season just begging for a night out. The best way to show off your textured tights is with these higher hemlines.

colored tights Tights are the saving grace of skirts and dresses when the temperature drops and the models strutted in saturated hues and printed tights up and the runway. Tights keep this season’s minis looking stylish and never inappropriate.
monochromatic It can be hard to look sleek in Fall with so many pieces and layers, but a monochromatic look accomplishes just that. If you’re keeping all the same shade throughout the look, mix up the textures or go for shades of the same color to add flair to this trend.
mixed textures It’s time to play nice! Sequins, lace, wool, velvet and chiffon now have something in common when you mix and match textures to create an outfit that shows personality.

perfect outfit for a specific occasion, how do you recommend they approach their shopping trip?
Westfield: How does someone develop their own personal style? How would you describe yours?
Stacy: Always ALWAYS shop in outfits. Whether you

are looking for one piece or a whole ensemble, trying clothes on in outfits gives them a context. They will show you what pieces work best together and if you might have something like them in your closet and if not, then it is always wise to buy and ensemble and break it up with pieces you already own later. If you buy something that goes with nothing it will sit in your closet!
time and work. You have to understand your body type and lifestyle to determine what will look best on you in any given season. You must give yourself the time to shop wisely and well. Great style comes from self-knowledge. Knowing when to say no to a trend is just as important as knowing when to say yes. I think my style is classic with an edge. I like mixing hard and soft styles.

unexpected accessories Give onlookers some eye candy with an unexpected accessory like a fur (or faux) purse or cropped leather driving gloves. Some outfits are made by how you accessorize – so don’t be afraid to start with a statement necklace and style backwards. 5

Stacy says: Never overdo it. Pick one focal point on your face to highlight and stick to it, eyes, lips etc. And always carry lip gloss and concealer. Change up your make-up routine as you age because different products have different benefits. Take good care of your skin because that’s what everyone sees first, your whole life long. And drink water, which I don’t do enough, but I know you should.
