The advantages of raw feeding for dogs are truly insurmountable and for West Highland White Terriers, it’s an ideal diet choice. At their very core, dogs have evolved to eat the way their ancestors did in the wild; raw and natural. Dogs are carnivores and their optimum diet is one nature intended.
West Highland White Terriers often have intolerances to wheat and grains. As a result, many owners opt for hypoallergenic processed foods without realising that raw foods are naturally hypoallergenic (containing none of the most common ingredients that trigger allergy symptoms). West Highland White Terriers as a breed, also tend to suffer badly with yeast imbalance; This can affect their skin, ears, microbiome and makes them extremely itchy, smelly, and miserable. Kibble and processed foods which are high in starches and sugars exasperate this. Quite simply, a raw diet is optimal for West Highland White Terriers.
