Common Room West London College

At Hammersmith there is a new common room space opening after half term.

It will be open Mondays, Tuesdays and Thursdays 11am -2pm.

Follow the signs from the foyer. It is through the big double doors in the area where you enrolled.

It will be fun and filled with amazing things that will enrich your college experience.

It will be open on Monday 20th February.

Safeguarding West London College

Hello everyone!

My name is Pembe Kisa and I am the new Safeguarding and Wellbeing officer at WLC. Safeguarding is of utmost importance to us and we are focused on ensuring we do all we can to protect all of our learners.

If you ever have any concerns about yourself, or any other student you can email safeguarding@wlc.ac.uk, drop into student services or speak to your teacher.

We can offer support with a wide range of problems and if we can’t we will find someone who can.

West London College’s got Talent

We would like to invite you to showcase your skills and talents at West London College’s very own WLC's Got Talent!!!

Whether you’re a singer, dancer, rapper, poet, comedian, magician or sports person with some fancy skills….we wanna hear from YOU!!!

Auditions will be running at each campus throughout March and the final show will take place on Thursday 27th April at Hammersmith.

UCAS update

Congratulations to our final year students who are progressing to University. 241 applications were submitted to UCAS, and most students have already started receiving Offers from their Universities.

Progressing to Apprenticeship?

Laing O’Rourke is organising an Apprenticeship open evening with opportunities in a range of professions such as: HR, Digital, Finance, Engineering, Construction Management to ‘Trade’ as in Carpentry, Scaffolding, Plastering, Bricklaying – and many, many more!

Top advice on how to get an Apprenticeship in Construction

Are you looking to start an apprenticeship in construction? You will have the opportunity to speak to employers, training providers and apprentices at a webinar on Wednesday 8th February.

The webinar, which runs from 11.00-12.00pm, has been organised by the London Borough of Ealing, and has many new and exciting construction projects in the borough. To attend, book your place here. A highly recommended Build UK guide ‘Routes of Entry into Construction’ is also available here.

An internship is to provide students an opportunity to have work experience, and Chilcotin Holidays & the Chilcotin Ark Institute are providing students the opportunity to experience a unique internship where they go through a process of personal development, pursuing their interests, goals and purpose for their studies and personal life. Students have the opportunity to conduct and implement their own research project. They get to acquire hands-on experience with work-based learning placements available in the areas below. Apprenticeship Drop-in session with Pathway CTM

Pathway Careers Training and Mentoring (CTM) works with schools and colleges supporting students across the UK offering a free online Q&A service for young people, helping them make decisions about their next steps, and to find and apply for apprenticeships. The Q&A service is offered FREE (almost) EVERY WEDNESDAY 16:30-17:30. To access more information and to register to attend click here

Bank of America Trip

Last week the Careers team, and two tutors accompanied L3.2 Business and ICT students from Hammersmith & Fulham campus to attend a workshop on Inspiring the Future in Technology organised by Bank of America in London. The workshop which was attended by other schools was to enlighten young people about a financial institution’s ability to fulfil its function which relies intrinsically on technology, and to know the opportunities in tech young people could explore as a future career. There were volunteer experts who shared their career experiences in the banking sector with our students - ranging from roles in cyber security to stop hackers and keep data safe, to using robotics and artificial intelligence to help build their businesses, innovation in banking tech, managerial and human resource functions. Bursary West London College

We understand that being a student in financial hardship can be a huge hurdle to overcome. Funds are available to assist students with the costs associated with attending college such as essential kits, uniforms, materials, travel, childcare, etc.

Therefore, It’s still not too late to apply for a College Bursary!!
