Dear Westmark Community,

On behalf of the Board of Trustees, I want to express enormous gratitude to our community for going ALL IN to support Westmark during the 2021–2022 school year. Throughout the year, you gave generously of your time, talent, and treasure to touch the lives of every student at Westmark.

The Board recognizes the connection between the community’s steadfast support and the vitality of the education that we provide our students. Each year, we approve a budget that includes a line item for philanthropic support because we know that tuition dollars alone cannot sustain the depth, breadth, and quality of educational programs that empower our distinct learners to thrive. Every gift makes a difference.

But it is not just dollars that impact students. As part of the Westmark Parent Association and in collabo ration with the Advancement Office, parents and guardians volunteer countless hours to partner with our faculty and staff and enrich our students’ experiences. Every volunteer makes a difference.

The 2021–2022 school year was an exciting one for the Board, especially as we approved moving forward with construction of Westmark’s new Lower School. We are confident that our community will rise and rally to make the necessary contributions to fully fund this transformative project for the School.

LETTER FROM THE HEAD OF SCHOOL

Dear Westmark Family and Friends,

Reflecting on the 2021–2022 school year fills me with so much gratitude. As a community, we gathered to enjoy the successes of our diverse learners in the classroom, on the stage, on the athletic field, and in all the other amazing arenas where our students shine. We also came together at meetings and celebrations, both online and in person, building and sustaining friendships that will last for years to come. And, by our year-end ceremonies, we relished the opportunity to see each others’ smiles on unmasked faces!

The many joys of the last school year were the result of the unwavering dedication of Westmark students, faculty, staff, administrators, parents, and friends. Our students exceeded our expectations once again, finding their voices, developing their strengths, and practicing their self-advocacy. Committed to their own learning, teachers received training and certification in research-proven methodologies, such as the Universal Design for Learning educational framework and the Orton-Gillingham Approach, to elevate the student experience. Parents, grandparents, and friends partnered with us to ensure that we were able to achieve our unique mission each and every day.

This Report on Philanthropy looks back at the 2021–2022 school year to acknowledge the extraordinary generosity of our donor community. It also anticipates an exciting and bright future for Westmark. This past year, as we launched the Lower School Campus Project, we laid the foundation for the School to reach new heights. I thank each of you for all that you do to make certain our students achieve the successful and fulfilling futures that they deserve.
