This year’s Paddington Festival kicks off from 21st June and runs through to September. It is a fun-filled four months with activities for everyone – from cricket camps, walking football through to junior gyms and basketball sessions. Planning Permission has now been granted for £20m worth of sports and leisure facilities as part of the council’s Active Queen’s Park project. The Moberly Sports and Education Centre on Kilburn Lane will be rebuilt to include two brand new swimming pools, a large 8-court sports hall, exercise and dance studios, a multiuse hall, boxing hall, health and fitness suite and spa.

Are you aged 14 to 25? Ever thought about doing to Duke of Edinburgh award? Complete four challenges once a week for three to six months to achieve the award. Your activities can be in four different areas:
If you are interested in becoming a coach, referee, administrator or instructor you can receive support in finding a role that matches your skills, interests and availability, along with funding for training courses and Criminal Records Bureau (CRB) checks.
• Become more skilled at a sport • Volunteer or qualify as a coach • Learn or improve a skills (e.g. sign language, cookery) • Take the Expedition Challenge (which starts from £120). Registration costs £20 (financial support may be available).
The Westminster Sports Unit has teamed up with Volunteer Centre Westminster to help and support people to volunteer in sport. Sports organisations looking for volunteers can also benefit from support to recognise and develop new volunteer opportunities. A full programme of PE and school sports professional development training is available to all primary school teachers through the Westminster PE and School Sport Network membership. There are four annual networking opportunities for primary and secondary school PE Coordinators giving attendees the chance to learn about upcoming events, policy updates and hear from guest speakers.
All secondary school students in Westminster are given the chance to take part in the Westminster Leadership Academy. The Leadership Academy offers its team members courses for leadership and sport specific training. We work closely with partners to provide leadership opportunities so that the students can put their new skills into practice Primary schools are being encouraged to identify and train School Sports Organising Crews. Participants are trained over six weeks and can then assist teachers and teaching staff with extracurricular activities. Schools are able to access training through Westminster Sports Unit.
