German, the Adjutant General of New York, announced the recent service accomplishment of members of the New York Army National Guard in recognition of their initial commitment to serve community, state and nation. The newest Citizen Soldiers to complete Army basic combat training and advanced individual training were welcomed to their units during a New York Army National Guard battle handoff ceremony. •Pvt. Paul Hayhurst from Rochester was formally welcomed into the 222nd Military Police Company during their transition ceremony on December 4 at the Patriot Way Armory in Rochester. •Pfc. Cole Soptelean from Rochester, was formally welcomed into the Troop A, 2-101st Cavalry (Reconnaissance, Surveillance and Target Acquisition) during their transition ceremony on December 4 at the Patriot Way Armory in Rochester. The ceremony marks their completion of the National Guard Recruit Sustainment Program, a preparatory training program that provides new recruits with training, lessons and skills to excel at their initial military training. The soldiers will now embark on their traditional National Guard service to state and nation as part time Citizen Soldiers.
LCpl. Devon R. LePore, daughter of Mark and Mary LePore of Ogden, has been assigned as a clarinetist with the second Marine Aircraft Wing Band in Cherry Point, North Carolina. LCpl. LePore successfully completed U.S.M.C. basic training, April 15, in Parris Island, South Carolina and Military Combat Training, Camp LeJeune, North Carolina on May 24. She graduated from the Naval School of Music, JEB Little Creek-Fort Story, Virgina, November 18. LePore’s interest in serving as a musical ambassador developed when she joined the Gates Keystone Club Police Pipes and Drums as a bagpiper in 2004. She is a 2012 graduate of Ithaca College, Music Education and Performance, and a 2008 graduate of Churchville-Chili High School. Major General Anthony P.
