Rotary Snow Queen - The Brockport Rotary Club’s Third Annual Snow Carnival got off to a flying start in January 1973 with the Rotaryannes hosting a dinner dance at Salmon Creek Country Club. A large and enthusiastic crowd enjoyed the smorgasborg dinner. Following the dinner, Betty Boehle, chairman of the dance, introduced the people at the head table and the judges of the queen contest. After a long deliberation, the judges chose Jo Ellen Lester (right) as queen of the Third Annual Brockport Rotary Club Snow Carnival. She is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Nat Lester of 85 State Street, Brockport. Also picured is Jack Slattery.

Holley Couple wins Rotary Good Gal - Good Guy Award - Ray McGinnis (left), of Brockport Rotary, presented the Club’s “Good Guy - Good Gal” award to Mr. and Mrs. Everett Hale of Holley in March 1973. Marion and Everett had devoted the past fourteen years to caring for severely handicapped children who would otherwise have been left to an impersonal institutional upbringing. The Hale children - Patrick, 11; Jennifer, 13; Dick, 18; and Cherie, a young mother of two. At that time, two foster children - Cindy, 8 and Tommy, 2, were living with the Hales along with Mary Ann, a six year old. Marion was a registered nurse who worked several nights a week at Lakeside Memorial Hospital. Everett was employed at Eastman Kodak. The Brockport Rotary Club thanked Marion White of Lakeside Memorial Hospital for nominating Marion and Everett Hale.
