Clubhouse Corner

Hello Neighbors,

October marks the third month of Craig Martin’s interim role as Wexford’s COO/GM. His presence and involvement in activities are highly visible and have had an exceptional, positive impact on our community. Our traditional Happy Hour events are upbeat and the Friday night tasting events have been a big hit. For that we are all very thankful!

We have just launched the Enhanced Amenities Plan vote and we encourage all members to participate. As announced in the September Board meeting, the Board’s view is that the bundled project (voting for both a new Yacht Club building and Clubhouse renovation) is the most cost effective and time efficient approach for the community; however, the ballot is constructed to give our members a choice to vote for one, both, or neither of the projects. The vote structure was recommended by the Amenities and Planning Committee in response to feedback received during member communication meetings. Regular communications on the plan will continue to be sent to the membership weekly throughout October until the vote concludes.

Candidates Happy Hour: A new event implemented by the Nominating Committee will be a Candidates Happy Hour on Thursday, October 27th. It will give all of us an opportunity to meet the 2023 Board candidates in a social environment to get to know them. This will be followed by the annual “Meet the Candidates” event on Thursday, November 3rd, at which formal presentations will be made by each candidate along with a Q&A hosted by the Nominating Committee.

The October Board Meeting will include some important updates for our members. The meeting is Friday, October 21st, and will be available to attend in person or by Zoom. The agenda already includes, but will not be limited to, the following:

Golf Master Plan Update: Chris Neff, Director of Grounds and Greens, will update us on his recommendations for the next three years.

Strategic Plan: The Board will provide a checklist on accomplishments that have been achieved since the plan’s inception, and also communicate changes that have also been incorporated into the plan. Those changes will highlight some initiatives that been eliminated from the plan or have been updated.

GM Search: We’ll hear an update on the progress of this important search from our recruiter and Search Committee.

Vince Sullivan

President

Harbor Wall Report: The Harbor Wall Task Force will present an updated report on findings from a recently completed engineering study and work done on the wall as reported by Dan Ogden at the September Board meeting.

Thanks for all you do to make Wexford the premiere place to live and work in Hilton Head!

Sincerely, Vince
