Open-air market at Nickle Lake

Delea Lark of Stranger Danger Candy had a booth set up at Nickle Lake Regional Park on Canada Day, as part of the open-air market set up for the holiday. The park had a number of activities, including a bike parade, live entertainment and food for the holiday weekend.

Lighting up for Canada’s birthday

The skies were lit up with bright bursts of rockets, as the City of Weyburn set off their fireworks show to commemorate Canada’s birthday.

Celebrating Canada Day

Children on decorated bikes, many of them dressed in red-and-white for Canada Day, rode through Nickle Lake Regional Park on Saturday. The parade wound its way throughout the park, and afterward the children were able to take part in making Canada Day-themed crafts.

Singing songs by Canadians

Singer Jenn Morin sang in the beverage gardens at Nickle Lake Regional Park as part of Canada Day celebrations. She sang a number of songs by Canadians, including “The Weight” by The Band. Other performers included Richard Beach, and Dennis and Curtis Ficor.

Canada Day crafts at Nickle Lake

Children had the opportunity to do Canada Day crafts at the Beavers Den at Nickle Lake Regional Park on Saturday, with the activities led by instructors Dayton and Lauren. Many of them were still dressed up from the bike parade held earlier, which toured around the park.

Colour Guard marches in flags during Canada Day ceremony

Members of the Weyburn Legion Colour Guard march in flags during Canada Day ceremonies, held at the Weyburn Leisure Centre. Weyburn Legion sargent at arms Owen White was followed by Sam Hennie and Peter Zaharia Newcomer Martis Rajasekaran had the special privilege of being asked to carry in the Treaty 4 Flag.
