Comp Eagles girls to host home tournament before playoffs The Comp Eagles senior girls played in a tournament over the weekend, and will host one last home tourney before taking part in the playoffs, which will also be held in Weyburn. The senior girls had a good weekend overall in Estevan, despite being their first games after taking two weekends off due to February break. On Friday night they won their game against Indian Head, putting them in the semi-final Saturday afternoon. The senior girls lost a tough game against Notre Dame in the semis, and then lost to Estevan in the bronze medal game. This weekend, March 9-10, the Eagles girls will host a tournament in the Cugnet Centre. The Eagles play Friday at 5 p.m. against North Battleford, and Saturday at 11 a.m. versus Yorkton, and then against Swift Current at 7 p.m. Playoffs for the senior girls begin the weekend of March 16-17 in Weyburn, as

they will host all of the 5A rural schools: PA Carlton, PA St Mary’s, Yorkton, North Battleford, Swift Current, Notre Dame and the Comp Eagles. The Weyburn Comp Eagles senior boys basketball team travelled to North Battleford over the weekend. They played three games, but the storm shortened the tournament. The Comp Eagles defeated Prince Albert Carlton 75-52, and then beat Lloydminster 86-68 before suffering a defeat by Moose Jaw Central, by the score of 83-71. The Comp Eagles junior girls hosted a district playoff game on Thursday, and narrowly lost to the Estevan Elecs by the score of 42-39. This was their last game of the season. The freshman boys also played in districts on Thursday, going to Estevan and winning both games to claim gold, their first medal of this season. In the first game, they beat Moosomin and the final was against St. Michael.

Golfer Graham DeLaet partners with Mosaic Company The Mosaic Company announced its first ambassador partnership with professional golfer and Saskatchewan native Graham DeLaet. The PGA Tour standout is known to be one of the game’s best ball strikers and is adored by fans for his iconic beard and authentic personality. DeLaet will feature The Mosaic Company logo on his right sleeve and lower bag belly positions during all PGA TOUR competitions The partnership will extend off the course with DeLaet and Mosaic collaborating on client, employee and charitable initiatives. DeLaet had an incredible breakthrough during the 2013-14 season, with an unofficial MVP shout out by his peers during his first President’s Cup appearance. To date, he has recorded 33 top-10 finishes on the PGA Tour, including a personal Major’s best of T7 at the 2017 PGA Championship. In 2016, Graham had the honour of representing his country in the Olympics, as golf returned to the Games for the first time since 1904. “Partnering with Mosaic is like a constant reminder on my sleeve of my roots and the things I love most about Saskatchewan — the people and the sense of community,” said DeLaet. “We are very much alike in the sense that we are globally based, but always looking to give back to the people and places that have supported us.” The Mosaic Company’s aim is to help the world grow the food it needs. With its Canadian head office in Regina and mining operations in Belle Plaine, Colonsay and Esterhazy, Mosaic is deeply embedded in and committed to Saskatchewan. DeLaet is known throughout Canada and the U.S. as much for his on-course

Graham DeLaet accomplishments and persona as his offcourse successes with The Graham and Ruby DeLaet Foundation. Since 2014, the Foundation has raised over $1.5 million for charities supporting children’s health and wellness and developing junior golf. This includes the Jim Pattison Children’s Hospital in Saskatoon, which Mosaic has also supported since 2009. “Graham DeLaet represents Saskatchewan, Canada and himself on the international stage with authenticity and class,” said Joc O’Rourke, President and Chief Executive Officer at The Mosaic Company. “We look forward to working with Graham, a home-grown success, to further our community endeavors together, all while cheering him on wherever he may be teeing off in the world.”

Looking to shoot for a basket A player for the St. Michael Tigers B team looked for an opportunity to throw for a basket as a defender from Lampman guarded him, during a boys district playoff game on Thursday at St. Michael School. The B team lost to Lampman and went on to win against Moosomin to end up in third place in districts.
