Minor Hockey Weekend in Weyburn We y b u r n M i n o r Hockey Association held Hockey Weekend in Weyburn on Saturday and Sunday. Once a year the Saskatchewan Hockey Association proclaims one weekend as Hockey Weekend in Saskatchewan and asks that all Saskatchewan Minor Hockey Associations do something special that weekend to promote minor hockey in their city. Both the Crescent Point Place and the Tom Zandee Sports Arena were filled with beginner level hockey games to Junior A hockey from Friday night until Sunday night. Element Technical
Services sponsored and cooked a free pancake breakfast for the WMHA families on Saturday morning in the CPP lobby. They also collected non-perishable food items to donate to the Salvation Army. As well, WMHA players wearing team gear could get in for free to the Richardson Pioneer Weyburn Red Wings home game against the Estevan Bruins on Friday, and both of the Weyburn Richardson Pioneer Gold Wings home games against the Saskatoon Stars on Saturday and Sunday. More photos and a video from the weekend are available on the Weyburn Review website.

Weyburn Red Wings split home-and-home series with Estevan Bruins The Richardson Pioneer Weyburn Red Wings had a home-and-home series over the weekend with their Highway 39 rivals, the Estevan Bruins. The Red Wings had home-ice advantage first on Friday night. The Bruins started the game off by scoring just over three minutes into the first period.
Thanks to help from Liam Rutten and Nick Dobson, Dace Prymak was able to tie up the game before the end of the period. Just over five minutes into the second period, Jake Misskey pulled the Wings ahead. Jordan Gagnon and Connor Stephenson had the assists. The Bruins later an-

swered back and made the score 2-2, but with just seconds left in the period, Shayde Peterson gave the lead back to the Wings. Rhett Frey and Sebastian Eger were credited with the assists. The Wings lost their footing in the third period and allowed the Bruins to score two more goals and
win the game 4-2. The following night the two teams took to the ice in Estevan to face off once again. The only goal of the game was scored 7:48 into the first period when Prymak assisted Kabir Gill in scoring his first SJHL career goal on a power-play opportunity.
The 1-0 victory gave Joseph Young his fourth SJHL career shutout and makes him the goaltender with the most shutouts this season in the league. The following day the SJHL announced that they had added Young to the roster for the SJHL/MJHL showcase held on Tuesday and today, Jan. 22, in Re-
gina. Young and Braden Birnie were the only two Red Wings that were selected to play in the showcase and they both played for the under-18 team, Team Schwartz. The Red Wings next game is on Friday, Jan. 24 when the Humboldt Broncos come to town. The puck drops at 7:30 p.m.
