The Weyburn U18 Aaron Well Servicing Southeast Goldwings brought home the gold medal from Calgary, from the Wickfest tournament in their division.
Wickfest is the Hayley Wickenheiser International Women’s Hockey Festival.
The Goldwings girls first faced the Surrey Fal cons Friday afternoon and took a close 2-1 loss, be fore facing the Lethbridge Southern Express for two games on Saturday.
The lone goal for Wey burn was by Brooke Allan, assisted by Jada Naviaux.
They won the first game 3-2 over Lethbridge, and then later that evening came away with a 4-1 win.
In the first win, goals were by Katelyn Thack eray, with assists by Vic toria Mann and Naviaux, and Talyn Johnston scored twice, with assists by Bostyn Runge on both goals.
In the evening win, Thackeray scored twice and assisted on another, with Hadley Gerle and Megan Reid each scor ing once. The other assists came from Samantha Col pitts, Naviaux, Allan and Runge.
Their last game of the round robin was versus the Abbotsford Ice on Sunday, and they took a 1-0 loss.
The girls finished second in their pool, and were set to face the Surrey Falcons in the final, win ning 4-1 to claim gold for their division.
Mann had two goals, and Gerle and Brooke Mc Kinnon each scored once, with assists by Naviaux and Reid.
During the tournament, the girls had a sports nu trition class, and had a surprise visit by Hayley Wickenheiser. They also took a trip out to Banff on Friday after their afternoon game.
Minor hockey teams from Weyburn had mixed success recently, including a tournament win for a U13 team in Winnipeg.
The Weyburn U13 AA Youngfellow Wings at tended the Winnipeg Jets AA Showdown in Win nipeg over the Nov. 17-20 weekend.
The boys went undefeat ed in six games, earning the title of gold medal champs.
The Wings represented Weyburn well, working hard as a team to have a success ful weekend.
The Weyburn U18 Aldon Oil Wings took on Lamp man/Arcola team at Cres cent Point Place on Sunday night, and came away with a 7-5 win.
In the first period, the Wings took the lead with goals from Jyler Goebel, as sisted by Jonah Niemegeers;
Kai Fisher, assisted by Goe bel and Nathan Peterson; Goebel, assisted by Peterson and Niemegeers, and Fisher, assisted by Goebel and Nie megeers. Lampman scored two in the first period.
In the second period, Fisher scored, assisted by Goebel and Peterson, Goe bel scored, assisted by Fish er and Wyatt Ebel.
Lampman scored also to end the period 6-4 for the
Wings.
The Wings scored once more in the third period, as Fisher put the puck in the net, assisted by Goebel and Karver Heustis.
Tim Rosengren was in net for the Wings, and took the win.
The Weyburn U18 Bar ber Motors Wings hosted the Estevan Bears on Saturday evening, and were doubled by the Bears in a 6-3 loss.

The Mustangs won 9-3 over the KW Oil Kings in Kipling, while the Wheat Kings won 4-3 over the Wawota Flyers.
In the Yellow Grass game, Ethan Klebeck scored with assists to Riley Knoll and Maxwell Rae; Jesse Watson scored, as sisted by Judson Christo pherson and Kyle Crozier; and Dylan Frey scored with assists from Luke Nie megeers and Brandt Hud son.
Wawota also scored three goals that period, and with no scoring in the second and third periods, the game went into over time when Connor Lafoy scored, unassisted, to claim the win for the Wheat Kings.
In Midale’s game, the Oil Kings scored twice in the first period and Midale scored once, with Devon Johnson putting the puck in the net assisted by Steven
The Mustangs broke out with four goals in the second period, two by Lin denbach. He was assisted on the first one by Dante Weimer and Talen King, and by Connor Burk and Johnson on the second.
Austin Russell scored with assists to Austin Neiszner and Kendall Oli ver, and Johnson score from Matt Anderson and Lindenbach.
Lindenbach then scored in the third period, assisted by Johnson and Weimer, and Burk scored twice, from Adam Frederick on the first goal, and Brad Tomiski assisted on the second.
The final goal was by Johnson from Khenan Col bow.
The Mustangs will be in Kipling to play the Oil Kings on Friday, Dec. 2, while the Flyers will be in Midale on Dec. 3, both games starting at 8 p.m.
On Sunday, the Bien fait Coalers will be hosted by the Yellow Grass Wheat Kings with the puck drop ping at 8 p.m.
A number of tryout camps for the sports in the Saskatchewan Winter Games are set for Decem ber and January. The Winter Games will be held in Re gina on Feb. 19-25, 2023.
Athlete trials for table tennis was held over the Nov. 26 weekend in Stough ton, and coming up on Dec. 3-4 is the trials for biathlon.
The figure skating trials
are Dec. 9-11 in Mel fort, and applications for weightlifting will be by email by Dec. 15.
Four-person curling team regionals will held Jan. 1415 in Estevan, and the mixed doubles curling regionals are set for Jan. 28-29, but organ izers are looking for a host curling rink.
Badminton coaches are needed, and the deadline to
apply is Dec. 1. Team Southeast is look ing for volunteers for the mission staff, providing an opportunity to be part of this provincial multi-sport event.
Members of Team South east for gymnastics were an nounced, and include Avery Fleck, Sadie Hodgkin and Sophie Pollock of Weyburn, and Eliza Gall and Heidi Byers of Estevan.
The following sports are featured during the first half of the games: alpine skiing, artistic swimming, biathlon, badminton, Special Olym pics bowling, curling, gym nastics, speed skating, table tennis and weightlifting. The second half includes crosscountry and para Nordic skiing, figure skating, futsal, judo, snowboarding, target shooting and wrestling.
