Related Text Page(s) Document: INITIAL REPORT Author: 50756 - SCULL, KALEN K Related date/time: Apr-03-2014 (Thu.) 114 On 4/2/14 I responded to 208 Frances Av E in reference to a child abuse investigation (DCF #14-056909) called in by Hillsborough County CPI A. Yeager. Upon my arrival I made contact with CPI Yeager and learned of the complaint. She informed me she was about to close out a case from 3/3/14 involving the same family (TPD 14-143799).

I made contact with Shyquanda at the front of the residence. I explained the reason for our visit. She gave us permission to interview each child separate in the rear bedroom without her presence.

CPI Yeager and I conducted the listed interview with the three victims. were not able to be interviewed due to their young age.

I spoke to the defendant outide on her porch in a non-custodial interview.

I observed injuries on each child as follows: had 2 raised red marks on his left shoulder blade. The marks were straight lines that ran parallel to each other and parallel to his waist. The lines were approximately one inch apart and about two inches long. He had bruising on the right side of his back. He had many marks/scars on his body however, it was difficult to determine their age or how they were caused. had raised red marks on his right thigh consistent with being hit by a belt or belt buckle. The area was swollen and dark red. The injury was only isolated to that area of his thigh. He also had 4 raised red lines on his upper left arm. The lines were parallel to each other and to his elbow.

The top two and bottom two lines were separated by approximately one inch.

The second and third line were almost touching. The lines were consistent with being hit with a belt.

There were no visible injuries to I contacted Cpl. S. Kruger and advised him of the details. I summoned for Forensic Investigator Vogt #827 to the scene. Once Vogt arrived I advised her of the call and she began conducting her investigation (see supplement).

I arrested the defendant for child abuse on the three victims. I read the defendant her Miranda rights from a State Attorney Miranda card. She declined to speak without an attorney present.

A CRA was completed and the defendant was later transported to Orient Road Jail.

CPI Yeager took temporary custody of the children until the nearest approved relative could take custody (see CPI report).

He knows the day was 3/30 and 3/31 because he looked at the date on his phone after she hit him. said his hits his brothers with the belt, too. She puts the belt in water to get it wet before hitting them with it. She struck him on his face with the belt on 4/1/14. She uses two different belts to hit them with. One is brown and the other belt is white. She puts the belts in the kitchen.

He isn't scared of his . He feels safe at but doesn't like being hit with a belt. He gets bruised and his back hurts. His has been hitting he and his brothers with the belt for several months.

Dukes was physically disciplined as a child and does not believe in doing the same to She later admitted to her use of a belt for discipline during the end of the interview. She said she uses a belt that is white on one side and black on the other. There is also a light brown belt she uses. It is a toy belt which she cut in half. There is no buckle on the belt.

She is the only person who disciplines . Nobody else watches other than her grandmother, Watson. Watson does not discipline the She disputes having injuries. The injuries must have occurred at school.
