This portfolio is created for the first semester of the undergradate architecture program in Syracuse University. It contains different works I have accomplished for my ARC 107 and ARC 181 classes.
Exercise 1: The Animated Inanimate
09/2022 ARC 108 - First Year
Instructor - Iman FayyadFall Studio
The first exercise for ARC 107 is a drawing exercise. The task is to find an object that cannot move on its own and then imagine how it looks like when moving. Then, we have to draw down the movement of the object at different positions together with its trajectory. The goal of this exercise is for students to cap ture 3D environment through 2D means and practice on 2D drawing techniques.

Table Tennis Rocket 09/2022 ARC 108 plan, elevation, and section of a table tennis racket
Trajectory of the racket
Final position of the racket
Students were told to choose an object of their liking so I chose a table tennis racket. I imagined the movement of a tacket hitting a ball and the ball bouncing to the table. In my drawing, I used different spacing between each position to show the speed of the racket and the ball. I also used colored pencil to show the start and final position of my objects.

Exercise 2: Mapping Space
09/2022 ARC 108 - First Year Fall Studio
Instructor - Iman FayyadThe second exercise of ARC 107 class is a spatical analysis and model making exercise. The task is to create a rule that cuts through a cube while the cut should be continues. The goal of this exercise is for students to learn about volume and spatial mapping.
In this unrolled cube diagram, the blue area represents the exterior of my cube. The rule I created is to show symmetry in my cube. I left a hole at the bottom of the cube so at first glance the cube looks plain and simple but the little design at the bottom makes it more interesting.
Unrolled cube Cube modelThe third exercise of the ARC 108 class is a combination of 2D and 3D modeling. The task of this exercise is to visualize and create a model based on a 2D geometric design. The goal is for students to expand their digital and physical modeling skills.

Primative Figure
ARC 108
This model was created based on the primative figure shown in the previous page. The rule for creat ing this model is that I repeated eaching building block alternativly on opposite side having the diag nal line as the middle and stacked the shapes upwards.
This is a pyrimade model and the rule in creating this is that I had half of the pyrimade as a whole and the other half as parts of a whole.
This is a tower model. For this model, the rule I created is to stack squares on top of one other in a turning motion and the 2D squares on the ground is supposed to show be the reflection of the tower.

Section of single space pavilion
Project 1 of the ARC 107 class is to create a pavillion design to display sculptures of artist Babara Hepworth. Our pavillion is supposed to be de signed with rules we create and should have a site that follows a similar rule. The number of sculptures that should be displayed is around 7 to 14.

10-11/2022 ARC 108
In my pavillion, one theme I followed throughout my design is the circular shape that is repeated seen in her sculpture.
I created 3 circular pavillion placed at an upward motion and each has some variation in design. The goal I am trying to achieve is for the view ers to move from a lower to a high level to have a sense of elevation or rising feeling. Each pavillion will display sculpture with a different theme, but overall the theme is motherhood and family as that theme is repeat edly shown through her many sculptures.
Sequential Experience
Pavillion
10-11/2022 ARC 108 The first pavillion will display sculptures related to woman and human bodies.
The second pavillion will display sculptures related to pregnancy and infants.
The third pavillion will dis play sculptures related to motherhood and growth.
Overall, I want my pavillion to only be a architecture that is used as spaces to display objects. I want my pavillion to help in conveying a story or a message. In this case, I want my pavillion to rep resent the growth and development of a person from being a baby to a woman. The circular shape in design also mean this cycle is a loop and it is how we pass on human lifes.
