The adjective gaudy, however, was in use long before Gaudí was born, sometime before 1434. The word actually comes from Old French gaudir "to rejoice, make merry, to jest, scoff at" from late Latin gaudre "to rejoice", a descendant of Latin gaudere "rejoice, be joyful".» A. The son of a coppersmith, Antoni Gaudí was born on June 25, 1852, and took to architecture at a young age. He attended school in Barcelona, the city that would become home to most of his great works. Gaudí was part of the Catalan Modernista movement, eventually transcending it with his nature-based organic style.» A. Gaudí http://www.sagradafamilia.org/en/architecture/

Notre-Dame de la Garde In 1214 maître (master) Pierre, a priest of Marseille, was inspired to build a chapel dedicated to the Virgin Mary on the hill known as La Garde, which belonged to the abbey of Saint-Victor. The abbot granted him permission to plant vines, cultivate a garden and build a chapel. [4d'Agnel 1923, pp. 13–15.] The chapel, completed four years later, appears in an 18 June 1218 papal bull by Pope Honorius III listing the possessions of the abbey. After maître Pierre died in 1256, Notre-Dame de la Garde became a priory. The prior of the sanctuary was also one of four claustral priors of Saint-Victor. [5Chaillan, M. (1931). Petite monographie d’une grande église, NotreDame de la Garde à Marseille [Small monography of a big church, Notre-Dame de la Garde in Marseille] (in French). Marseille: Moulot. p. 23.] From the time the chapel was founded, surviving wills show bequests in its favour.[5Chaillan, M. (1931). Petite monographie d’une grande église, Notre-Dame de la Garde à Marseille [Small monography of a big church, Notre-Dame de la Garde in Marseille] (in French). Marseille: Moulot. p. 23.] Also, sailors who survived shipwrecks gave thanks and deposited ex-votos at Notre-Dame of the Sea in the church of Notre-Dame-du-Mont. Towards the end of the 16th century they began going to Notre-Dame de la Garde instead.[6Colombière 1855, p. 3.] The first chapel was replaced at the beginning of the 15th century by a larger building with a richly equipped chapel dedicated to Saint Gabriel.[7Hildesheimer 1985, p. 17.] https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Notre-Dame_de_la_Garde

Personal Reflections Finally I would like to bring this chapter to a close with a quote from the author of Introduction: What landmarks are, and why they are important. Landmarks stand out in environments, and structure mental representations of environments in cognizing agents. They form anchors in mental spatial representations, markers, or reference points. They are essential for any spatial reasoning, for example, for orientation and way-finding, and for any spatial communication. They appear in sketches, in descriptions of meeting points or routes. People use landmarks quite naturally. This is in stark contrast to spatial information systems, such as car navigation systems or mobile location-based services. In their interaction with people they lack an ability to interpret people’s references to landmarks, or to generate information by referring to landmarks. Their internal representations of spatial environments is certainly not based on landmarks, and thus, landmarks have to be brought in additionally to their internal representational structure, and properly integrated such that algorithms can add, revise, or select landmarks as needed in spatial dialogs. Since landmarks are a concept of cognizing agents but not of systems, the challenge addressed in this book is to bridge the divide between the two. This book will catch up, suggest formal models to capture the concept of landmarks for a computer, and integrate landmarks in artificial intelligence. In order to inspire formal modelling on foundations of cognitive science the book has three main parts: cognitive foundations, computational models capturing landmarks, and communication models using landmarks for intelligent human-machine dialog https://people.eng.unimelb.edu.au/winter/pubs/book-landmarks-sample-(ch-1).pdfhttps://people.eng.unimelb.edu.au/winter/pubs/book-landmarks-sample-(ch-1).pdf. . Andreas Dieberger of Emory University has asserted that people use Global Landmarks to orient themselves and to organize information. As electronic information becomes more complex landmarks may become a useful navigational aid https://core.ac.uk/download/pdf/11433700.pdf#page=104 or tool. In this context the Global Landmarks of which I am referring in this e-publication have to do with their pure existence, and their structure geographical cultural landscape namely Athens, Barbados, Cartagena, Florence, Gibraltar, London, Mykonos, Naples, Rapallo, Rhodes, Rome, Santorini, Sicily,Spain, and Toulon. Overall Cultural, Historical,Identity and Identical are common thread running through these Global Landmarks which were constructed by global citizens. The Animal Flower Cave The Animal Flower Cave is located under the cliffs at North Point, St. Lucy, Barbados. It is the island's lone accessible sea cave. It was discovered by its seaward entrance in 1780 by two English explorers. The cave stands six feet above the high water mark although it was formed at sea level. This has occurred because Barbados is rising at 1Â inch per 1000 years. There are coral steps which lead down through an opening in the roof (former blowhole) into the cave, these steps were built in 1912."Animal Flower Cave". Wondermondo. Inside the cave, still found are some sea anemones, which are locally called animal flowers, whence the cave obtained its name.https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/ Animal_Flower_Cave

It's a Fact To be selected, a World Heritage Site must be an already classified landmark, unique in some respect as a geographically and historically identifiable place having special cultural or physical significance (such as an ancient ruin or historical structure, building, city, complex, desert, forest, island, lake, monument, mountain, or wilderness area). It may signify a remarkable accomplishment of humanity, and serve as evidence of our intellectual history on the planet The sites are intended for practical conservation for posterity, which otherwise would be subject to risk from human or animal trespassing, unmonitored/ uncontrolled/unrestricted access, or threat from local administrative negligence. Sites are demarcated by UNESCO as protected zones. The list is maintained by the international World Heritage Program administered by the UNESCO World Heritage Committee, composed of 21 states parties which are elected by their General Assembly. The programme catalogues, names, and conserves sites of outstanding cultural or natural importance to the common culture and heritage of humanity. Under certain conditions, listed sites can obtain funds from the World Heritage Fund. The program began with the Convention Concerning the Protection of the World's Cultural and Natural Heritage, which was adopted by the General Conference of UNESCO on 16 November 1972. Since then, 193 state parties have ratified the convention, making it one of the most widely recognized international agreements and the world's most popular cultural program. As of July 2018, 1,092 sites are listed: 845 cultural, 209 natural, and 38 mixed properties, in 167 states. The Table of World Heritage Sites by country lists Italy as the home for the largest number of sites with 54, followed by China (53), Spain (47), France (44), Germany (44), India (37), Mexico (35) and United Kingdom and British Overseas Territories (31).monuments, statues. Conclusion It is amazing what you can achieve as a result of the Creator’s help especially in the production of a multimedia epublication and condensing 11000 Digitalimages in 160+ random selected digitized images captured in Athens, Barbados, Cartagena, Florence, Gibraltar, London, Mykonos, Naples, Rapallo, Rhodes, Rome, Santorini, Sicily, Spain, and Toulon during the combined period 2017 and 2018 . The main focus of this e-publication was to stir the intellectual consciousness of all global citizens to the fact that electronically as information becomes more complex there is that distinct plausibility that Global Landmarks may become a useful navigational aid /tool especially in tourist brochures especially in all of geographical locations identified in this publication. In addition this e-publication, also highlights global landmarks erected within Athens, Barbados, Cartagena, Spain, Florence, Italy,Gibraltar, London , Mykonos, Naples, Rapallo, Rhodes, Rome, Santorini, Sicily,Spain, and Toulon landscape. Andreas Dieberger of Emory University https://people.eng.unimelb.edu.au/winter/pubs/book-landmarkssample-(ch-1).pdf. https://core.ac.uk/download/pdf/11433700.pdf#page=104 perspective Andreas Dieberger of Emory University theory that Global Landmarks has to do with their pure existence, and their structure environments appear in our sketches, in descriptions of meeting points or routes, and they are remarkable objects of an environment especially in tourist brochures. with all humankind significance for spatial cognition and communication, Global landmarks pose a major challenged for artificial intelligence and humancomputer interaction. so far, research aiming for intelligent interaction design has suffered from a lack of understanding and formal modeling of landmarks. Finally, after examining all of the researched information I am persuaded in my mind that there is that distinct possibility that the Global Landmarks erected in Athens, Barbados, Cartagena, Florence, Gibraltar, London, Mykonos, Naples Rapallo, Rhodes Greece, Rome, Santorini, Sicily,Spain, and Toulon seemed to have borrowed the Roman architectural concepts. In making such a conscious decision obviously these countries would have also copied/embraced Rome’s culture, heritage, shape, values, beliefs, and aspirations. These Global Landmarks, are prominent fixtures that stand out from other buildings in their society, they are relevant, architectural, cultural, heritage, historical, identical, political, technical; and are legally protected by international treaties and protocols of UNESCO and are listed as a UNESCO World Heritage Sites. Conversely, one wonders if the question of antithesis comes into focus if artifacts, monuments, sculptures, statues and other Global Landmarks that occupy other geographical landscapes, are deemed as relevant, architectural, cultural, heritage, historical, identical, political, and technical; were not considered, furthermore listed by or protected by UNESCO World Heritage Property Site. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BPrBlvW7S8&t=58s William Anderson Gittens Author B.A., Cinematographer, Cultural Practitioner,Dip.Com.
