In collaboration with Growing Change and the community, the client aims to transform the site from an abandoned prison field site into a thriving, successful, sustainable agriculture and rehabilitation site for youth and the surrounding community. By creating an educational and recreational site for the community, the project hopes to create safer, more beneficial social and vocational opportunities to the youth to keep them from higher risk activity. Type: Team work for site analysis, individual responsible for site design

SITE ANALYSIS Location Defined as a “Rural Area in the US Census, Wagram is a towns in Scotland County, connected by a series of highways and backroads. It has the highest poverty level and violent crime in North Carolina. It is one of the three lowest ranked healthy county. Surrounded by several larger cities and attractions, that can provide opportunity to develope its economy.

WORKSHOP

Site Context

For acquiring demand from users and client directly, a community workshop held in Wagram, which provided much information about the types of facilitis individuals use to gather at, spend time with family and friends, and spaces with which they are attached. By knowing the community members favor recreational spaces and need large buildings within which to gather, better design decisions could be made.

02 The main objective of tourism planning is to balance the relationship between demand and supply, which means making development serve and meet the requirement of diversity of traveler interests. There is great scenic in Xianghongdian Reservior area, but lacking complete tourism facilities. Additionally, traffic inconvenience are the barriers for economic development. The planning strategy is to explore potentialities of tourism, improve infrastructure system, and lead the site to be an attract destination. Type: Team work, individual responsible for site analysis, resource evaluation, vegetation & protection planning, programs setting.

The green garden waste has become an important part of the municipal solid waste, so the issue of its treatment is prominent. This design focuses on approach of waste distributed processing which applies on a medium-sized green space, trying to build a green garden waste circulatory system which runs in the internal green space and combining with a landscape design which enables it can be ornamental. LOCATION HuangXing park, a citywide multi-functional park, located in Shanghai, China, which covers an area of 43 hm, far from the city centre. With a high ratio of green space, the vegetation of park is in good condition. There is a large artificial central lake, accounting for about 1/6 of the area. Visitors of park are not so much. On account of the condition of vegetation, water resource and visitors, this park is a perfect sample for composting system design.

EXISTING PARK CONDITION

The designer selected a suitable green area to design a park with a green garden waste circulatory system, which made the self-circulation system theory can be applied in the real landscape planning and design.

GREEN WASTE CIRCULATORY SYSTEM The green garden waste circulatory system as an integrated technological process has been constructed for solving the problem of green waste disposal for green spaces to complete the process of self-circulation and reduce costs. It was developed to provide technical assistance to operators of waste composting and processing facilities. It includes basic information on the composting process as well as technical informaion for the proper operation and management of a municipal waste composting facility.

COMPOSTING EXHIBITION AREA Composting exhibition area is the main area to show how composting combined with landscape design. The programs inside could be both children’s playground facilities and the exhibition of composting to public which made people contact composting directly in fun.

Compost teahouse A circular pod-shaped teahouse is designed by a Tokyo architect that does just that by harnessing temperatures in excess of 120°F that are generated by compost. A system of sealed ducts runs through each of the bins, and as the air circulates within the walls, the decaying compost warms it.

Wooden trestle fountains Wood trestle fountains are designed based on the compost pockets with the function of landscape and recreation.

Compost bins maze A complicated maze made up by many compost bins which 1.2 meters tall and Children could play in it.

CORE COMPOSTING AREA

Collection Different types of green waste are collected and transited by pickup truck to main collection point which prepared for the next composting process.

Shredding Before composting, size reduced process is required for the optimum chemical reaction condition in composting. The size of reduction depends on different types of green waste.

Composting The two main types of composting systems in core composting area are the mechanical system and the turned windrow system. The mechanical system is an enclosed system, and the turned windrow system is the conventional waste composting method.

Production After composting process finished, the raw composting material would be produced to various productions which could applied into landscape again.

04 Prague historical center has an area of 866 hectares and was added to the list of UNESCO World´s Cultural and Natural Heritage in 1992. Prague is the best preserved large Medieval city in the World. During the thousand years of its existence, the city grew from a settlement stretching from Prague Castle in the north to the fort of Vyšehrad in the south, becoming the multicultural capital of a modern European state. Under consideration of City Scape, most architectue and landscape design in Prague are building renovation and open space transformation instead of a new one creation. Therefore, the most challenge of city design in Prague is how to combine the new design with urban environment. Type: Individual design

CONTEXT CONSIDERATION Prague As a regional center, a railway is to the northeast and a main road cross the site. For natural environment, a creek runs to the northwest and several green spaces around site. One of them located to northeast, HavlĂÄ?kovy sady, is the largest urban park in this area. The land use around the site are residential mostly, as well as several old industry sites.

Site located in prague 10, to the southeast of city center, about 3km away from old town square.

Site is not in the central of city but as a regional center, it still take much traffic challenge. It surrounded by several multi-storey residentials which are historical buildings.
