igures from estate agency Hamptons show rents continuing to rise, with prices in the lettings market up 8.3% over the last 12 months. Research by the property company, which operates a branch locally at 20 Montgomery Square in Canary Wharf, said that while the pace of growth had cooled slightly for the third month in a row, its figures for July were nevertheless the sixth strongest annual increase over the past 10 years. As the UK continues to emerge from the effects of the pandemic, it’s meant the UK average rental price for a two-bedroom property in July 2022 – £1,068 – is roughly what tenants were spending on a three-bed 16 months ago.
