The sales of residential property during 2009 have far exceeded expectations and the activity levels are belying the general economic malaise. Although the residential property sector was seriously affected during the severe downturn of 2008, our first 2009 half year result indicates sales of residential properties are currently 50% ahead of the equivalent 2008 position. It is even more remarkable that these activity levels are only marginally (15%) less than 2007. It seems that as the housing market was unfortunately in the vanguard of the economic downturn – so it is perfectly consistent to now witness its recovery ahead of other sectors.
