Gallery 7 Theatre will be wrapping up its 30 (+2) Birthday Season with the comedy, Jeeves Intervenes, running May 19 – 27, 2023 at the Matsqui Centennial Auditorium in Abbotsford. Written by Margaret Raether and inspired by characters created by P.G. Wodehouse, the farce is described as ‘a cocktail of a show, as bright and engaging as a garden party in May” by the Chicago Tribune and “a comedy that’s funny every way you look at it” by the Third Coast Daily.

“What better way to end of a year of celebrating 30+ years of live theatre in the Fraser Valley than with this fun comedy,” exclaims Ken Hildebrandt, Gallery 7 Theatre’s Executive/Artistic Director. “We had to jump through several hoops to license this show and we’re thrilled the estate of P.G. Wodehouse gave us their blessing to include the play in our special season. I think audiences are in for a great time at the theatre, filled with amusement and laughter.”

The posh, high society London scene of the 1920s is thrown into chaos by hapless playboy, Bertie Wooster, and his old school chum, Eustace Bassington-Bassington. The two hatch a brilliant plan to dupe their meddling relatives to save Bertie from an undesired marriage and Eustace from an unwanted job in India. But will the ever-faithful manservant, Jeeves, be able to rescue these bumbling fools from themselves? A delightful romp full of deception and disguise, the play is a perfect celebration of the arrival of summer.

Directed by Kerri Norris, the play will feature performers from across the Fraser Valley including Adriel Brandt, Koenraad Beugelink, Nigel Brooke, Beth Gasser, Emily Hamel and Stephen Elcheshen. Set design is by Andrew Potts, costume design is by Vicki Bolan, lighting design is by Nigel Brooke, sound design is by Gabe Kirkley and make-up & hair design is by Raelyn Schatz. The stage manager is Natalie Hoogstra and production photography is by Dianna Lewis.

Jeeves Intervenes will run May 19 & 20, 24 – 27, 2023 at 7:30 PM with matinees on May 20 & 27 at 2:00 PM at the Matsqui Centennial Auditorium, 32315 South Fraser Way, Abbotsford. For tickets and full details, please visit www.gallery7theatre.com or call 604-504-5940.
