Footing the Bill

Footing the Bill

hen I was interviewing our Real Weddings couples in August, I was struck by a common theme: when designing their weddings, many were told to consider how they decorate their homes. Why reinvent the wheel? What you love in one place can provide inspiration for what you love somewhere else.

The worlds of interior design and wedding decor are merging, and one of the biggest trends we’re seeing in both is a move toward maximalist design. Consumers desire personality in big, busy strokes. Couples don’t need ‘permission’ for anything these days, but the more indulgent the experience, the better. Our top ways to manifest maximalism are on page XX.

Since there’s no such thing as a free lunch, it’s wise to establish a budget before the blowout. Many couples receive financial help from their parents, but it can be a difficult topic to broach. We tackle the ins and outs of talking to your folks about footing the bill on page XX.

Every issue, we search Maryland for the most gorgeous, inspirational wedding celebrations that have happened in the past year. 2022 did not disappoint: we found an Easton reception with the most romantic rattan bow napkin rings; a travel-inspired Navy wedding with enormous botanical arrangements, and a garden party in downtown Annapolis that ended on a boat.

We hope these pages help to make the planning experience less stressful and more fun! A wedding is a beautiful thing, no matter what.

All my best,
