Eight miles from Mountain Home in the small township of Salesville, SJ Pottery Studio has been making a name for themselves selling and mailing Mocha ware. This almost-extinct patterned pottery from the 18th century has had a resurgence in popularity thanks to fans like Martha Stewart and Tory Burch. If biking is more your speed you are in the right state. Arkansas has more than 1,000 miles of mountain biking trails with more to come. For mountain biking in the area, check out Panther Bay Loop at David’s Trail, Oakridge Mountain Bike Trail at Bull Shoals-White River State Park, or the Pigeon Creek Trail System, located along Lake Norfork. Syllamo Mountain Bike Trail is just south of Mountain Home with five loops of varying levels of difficulty.

Arkansas is home to five International Mountain Bicycling Association (IMBA) EPIC rides, which means they are a “true backcountry riding experience – technically and physically challenging, more than 80 percent singletrack and at least 20 miles in length.” The five trails include the Upper Buffalo, Lake Ouachita Vista Trail (LOViT), Ouachita National Recreation Trail, Syllamo and Womble trails. Located less than 40 miles south of Mountain Home Syllamo Mountain Bike Trail is one of the most technically challenging trail systems in our region. The trail is a series of interconnecting loops offering more than 50 miles for novice to advanced bikers
