Ballet Folklorico Citlalli Number of Participants: 40 Target Market: Hispanic/Spanish speaking families, youth ages 6 - 13 Dates Available: Year-round Cost: $1,200 Ballet Folklorico is a new cultural program at the Wheeling Park District where students learn about the colorful culture of Mexico by dancing to the traditional and upbeat folkloric music. The basics of zapateado (tapping), posture, hand movement, rhythm and choreography are taught. The group receives many invitations to perform at different festivals and community events. This group is in need of sponsors to assist with costumes, presentation materials, and rehersal dresses.

Safe Swim Number of Participants: 150 Target Market: Families of low SES or whose children have never taken a swim lesson Dates Available: 1 week at spring break, and throughout the summer Cost: $1,500 for whole program Help children become self-confident in the water and learn about water safety by sponsoring a student through a one-week water-safety swim program. This program is specially designed for children who have never taken a swim lesson. “Remember, you can’t always be there. Learning to swim may save a child’s life one day.”
