All the flavours of the sea

In the shadow of the Basilica of San Lorenzo, Marea is a port for taste explorers offering an aesthetic and sensory experience inspired by the sea, its colours and flavours.

This is the contemporary formula proposed by Marea Seafood & Beverage: a harmonious encounter between the pleasure of the best seafood and the refined experience of the art of drinking signature cocktails. A concept that escapes the traditional restaurant classifications, proposing a fluid place where you can share a formal aperitif, a meeting with friends, enjoy a dinner or relax for an evening cocktail. Even the menu structure is decidedly original: 10 courses for Bassa Marea and 4 courses for Alta Marea, alternating between familiar flavours and unusual combinations, the result of young chef Filippo Martinelli’s in-depth knowledge of raw materials.

The Aperitivo, the beloved Milanese tradition of predinner drinks, is accompanied by complimentary “stuzzichini” and an all-you-can-eat buffet. Spreads range from traditional olives, nuts, cheeses and potato chips to awesome pasta dishes, “bruschetta”, cold cuts, crudités, raw fish and fruit salads. Generally, lasting for 3 hours from 6 to 9pm (though most people rarely get there until 7pm), the aperitivo scene has become an evening meeting for people of all ages. Cocktails – alcoholic or not – are expertly mixed and a Negroni, Negroni sbagliato (a delicious mix of prosecco, red vermouth and Aperol instead of gin) or a Spritz are Milanese specialities. Favourite beverages consumed during this beloved tradition in Milan include also the city’s renowned Martini, Prosecco or Campari, accompanied by an all-youcan-eat buffet.
