SCOTTSDALE’S ARTS DISTRICT
There are more than 100 art galleries located in Scottsdale, with dozens of them located in Scottsdale’s Art District—an area defined as Main Street from Scottsdale Road to Goldwater Boulevard and north on Marshall Way, across Indian School Road to the Bronze Horse Fountain on 5th Avenue.
There, stop in at Larsen Gallery (www.larsengallery.com), which features more than 500 works by more than 180 artists. A national leader in the secondary art market for more than 28 years, it is also the home of the internationally known Larsen Art Auction (held this year on Oct. 23), which will include the sale of rocker Alice Cooper’s Andy Warhol masterpiece, Little Electric Chair.
American Fine Art, Inc.’s (www.warhol.me) gallery draws everyone from collectors to prominent art museums, and showcases works by artists such as Andy Warhol, Joan Miró, Pablo Picasso, LeRoy Neiman, and Marc Chagall, while JKlein Gallery (www.jkleingallery.com) features the works of three family artists—Jim Klein, Dan Ostermiller, and Jeff Berryman. The three focus on contemporary paintings and bronze wildlife sculptures.
Meanwhile, Bonner David Galleries (www.bonnerdavid.com) presents dual exhibition spaces. One displays traditional paintings and sculptures, and the other, contemporary art.

SCOTTSDALE FASHION SQUARE BARBELL APPARELL
Although the vibe in the Valley of the Sun may seem casual on its surface— shorts and flip flops, anyone?—fashion is always at its forefront. As the summer makes way for fall and a new season of styles emerge, so has a slew of new retail destinations. From fancy dresses to everyday fashions to hip sneakers and more, it’s all here. A fashionable destination, indeed.
Fashion continues to grow as an industry in Metro Phoenix, with many independent boutiques, new-to-market locales, and even flagship destinations opening in the area. Fashion-lovers take note of these newest locales.
One of the premier shopping destinations in the nation, Scottsdale Fashion Square—which spreads across 1.9 million square feet—is already a must-see locale for stylish visitors. There are currently more than 200 shops and restaurants, including 40 of the world’s finest luxury and contemporary brands such as Louis Vuitton, Cartier, Gucci, Saint Laurent, Salvatore Ferragamo, St. John, Bottega Veneta, Jimmy Choo, Tiffany & Co., and Versace.
Recently, the first and only Dior (www.dior.com) in all of Arizona opened here—a two-story storefront, 11,000-square-foot flagship store in the new luxury wing.
Psycho Bunny (www.psychobunny.com), which offers clothing for men and kids, as well as Buck Mason (www.buckmason.com), which offers clothing for men, also opened locations at Scottsdale Fashion Square. Goodlife (www.goodlifeclothing.com), offering casual clothing for men and women, is now open, as is Wardrobe Apparel (www.wdrobeapparel.com), which has a selection of designer clothing for women. Opening soon is Sole Play 909 (www.soleplay909.com), which offers sneakers and clothing.
Over at Scottsdale Quarter, Mia Bella Couture (www.miabellacouture.com) recently opened its doors, offering a selection of red carpet, bridal, special occasion, and prom dresses. Also with new locations are Creations Boutique (www.creations24.com), which specializes in modern apparel with a bohemian flare, and activewear brand Fabletics (www.fabletics.com).
Those-in-the-fashion-know have probably heard of Barbell Apparel (www.barbellapparel.com), the brand that launched its athletic fit jeans on Kickstarter (which became the second most-funded fashion project of all time!). Three more successful Kickstarter campaigns, one ABC Shark Tank appearance, and now the company has a location at Scottsdale Quarter, with items for both men and women.
From Scottsdale Quarter, head across Scottsdale Road to Kierland Commons, another outdoor shopping destination, and stop by Tecovas (www.tecovas.com) for handmade cowboy boots for both men and women.
