Where Now
Raising the Bar
There’s a new way to cocktail, and it begins in Phoenix. The new 36 Below is a fully immersive cocktail lounge, a Walipini speakeasy, an underground greenhouse bar, and the first of its kind in the nation.

“We wanted to create a new, completely unique concept that allows guests to escape reality and indulge their senses,” explains Josh Kat, who co-owns it with Maurice “Moe” Murillo and Sheldon Wiley.
The immersive experience includes the use of wall-to-wall video screens and audiovisual effects that transport guests to a new locale each season.
Those who visit now will feel like they’ve been transported to Flagstaff, Arizona. To further enhance the experience, the 600-square-foot lounge interior will be reminiscent of a lush garden, filled with plants and flowers.
And the menu? Expect inventive cocktails crafted from the elements and a selection of small bites, many of which will be plant-based. 3620 E. Indian School Road, Phoenix; www.36belowaz.com

Stunning Cellar
Featured in the cool depths of the awardwinning Wine Cellar at Wrigley Mansion— the mansion built by William Wrigley, Jr. and the home of restaurants Geordie’s and Christopher’s—are 1,200 labels and 12,000 bottles. Oenophiles can now experience the space with the Wine Cellar Tour Experience.
The tour includes a glass of Champagne and select hors d’oeuvres, plus the opportunity to hand-select a bottle of wine with the sommelier, to be enjoyed with dinner. WHERE NOW Explore the Outdoors
As fall arrives, so do the lower temps in the Valley—making it a perfect time for outdoor adventures. Grab your hiking boots and water, and head to the iconic Camelback Mountain. The Valley’s tallest mountain is so named as its shape resembles a camel (www.phoenix.gov/parks). Or, visit South Mountain’s Holbert Trail, which is regarded as the best trail for petroglyph sightings (www.phoenix.gov/parks).
Tempe Town Lake plays host to kayaks, pedal boats, paddleboards, electric boats, and more, as well as fishing activities, with rentals available nearby (www.tempe.gov).
Families are fans of Scottsdale’s McCormick-Stillman Railroad Park, a 30-acre park which includes multiple play areas, a train that runs around the park, a carousel, a model railroad, a historic Pullman car, and expanses of grass—plenty to provide hours of fun (www.therailroadpark.com).
And though it’s great for families, you don’t need children to enjoy the Phoenix Zoo, where you can enjoy the weather while viewing more than 3,000 animals (www.phoenixzoo.com).
