MISS OAK HARBOR 2015 CONTEST RULES & ENTRY DETAILS

ELIGIBILITY: To be eligible to compete in the Miss Oak Harbor Pageant Pageant, contestant must: - Be an Oak Harbor High School (or homeschooled) Junior or Senior - Be a full-time resident of the Oak Harbor area for at least three months prior to the start of the pageant program - Possess moral integrity and never have been convicted of a felony - Never have held the title of Miss Oak Harbor (Queen) - Be female - Be single, never having been married - Not be pregnant - Be one of the first 30 accepted applicants APPLICATION: The following items are required to complete the Miss Oak Harbor Pageant application (application packets will not be considered unless complete with all items). Acceptance is not guaranteed and is dependent upon complete application packet and meeting all eligibility requirements. - Completed application - Signed Contestant Agreement & Contract - Letter of recommendation from a local teacher, business owner or notable community member - School attendance record for the 2014-2015 2015 school year - Birth certificate (copy) - Oak Harbor residency verification (if homeschooled) - School transcript (unofficial) - $50 application fee (checks made payable to Miss Oak Harbor Pageant) Pageant), which will be applied to the $250 pageant registration fee upon acceptance as a contestant, or returned upon denial ENTRY FEE: The Miss Oak Harbor Pageant registration fee is $250.. In addition to helping fund the pageant awards and expenses, your entry fee covers many personal benefits, including a professionally produced pageant DVD, a professional photo for the keepsake program, program and all training and preparation for pageant night (personal interview, impromptu questions, pageant walk & turns). It also covers a 6-week 6 gym membership, a personalized make-up up kit, a full set of acrylic nails, manicure or pedicure, and a contestant tt-shirt. Contestants who pay their total t pageant registration fee—either either personally or with sponsorship monies monies—by the early registration deadline (2/12/15) will receive a $50 discount (i.e., total registration fee will be $200 instead of $250). Registration fee must be paid in full (checks made payable to Miss Oak Harbor Pageant) by Orientation (3/9/15). SCHEDULE: Contestant is required to participate in a minimum of 90% of scheduled rehearsals and pageant events (tentative schedule below). Orientation and dress rehearsal are mandatory and missing either one will disqualify contestant from the remainder of the competition. competition There will be an attendance sheet at each event for contestants to sign in and out. Transportation to and from all pageant activities is the responsibility of each contestant and will not bee provided by the pageant. No boyfriends, parents, or other persons not directly associated with the Miss Oak Harbor Pageant will be allowed at training sessions or rehearsals rehearsals. Parents, arents, friends, professional groomers, groomers etc., are not allowed backstage or in the dressing rooms at dress rehearsal or pageant. - 3/9/15 Orientation (dress dress nicely for photo op op;; must be attended with at least one parent/guardian if contestant is under 18) 18 - 3/16/15-4/25/15 Rehearsals on Mondays and Wednesdays, 7:30 pm – 9:00 pm; various events on Saturdays at varying times - 5/1/15 Dress rehearsal - 5/2/15 Pageant SCORING: Contestants will receive points throughout the six weeks of pre-pageant pageant preparation as well as points on pageant night in a variety of categories, all of which are computed into the total determining the final results and crowning of the Miss Oak Harbor 2015 Royalty. COMPETITION CATEGORIES & AWARDS: The Miss Oak Harbor Pageant will crown one winner (Queen), one runner-up (First Princess), and one thirdplace winner (Second Princess). Prizes and competition categories include: Queen (1st Place): crown, sash, trophy, $2500 college scholarship First Princess (2nd Place): crown, sash, trophy, $500 college scholarship Second Princess (3rd Place): crown, sash, trophy, $250 college scholarship Miss Congeniality (voted on by the contestants): sash, plaque Miss Scholar (based on GPA): sash, plaque Miss Fitness (based on gym attendance + outside fitness activities such as club sports & high school athletics): sash, plaque Miss On Her Way (most improved; determined by BOD with input from other pageant reps and helpers): sash, plaque Miss Service (based on volunteer hours): sash, plaque Speech (as scored at the Pageant): trophy for 1st place, plaque for 2nd, certificate for 3rd Talent (as scored at the Pageant): trophy for 1st place, plaque for 2nd, certificate for 3rd Style Award (voted on by the contestants): gift card for local clothing store ROYALTY REQUIREMENTS: The Miss Oak Harbor Royalty (Queen, First Princess, Second Princess) shall at all times conduct themselves in a manner that is in keeping with the spirit, prestige and public image of their titles. Failure to do so may result in forfeiture of title and all practicable prizes. Miss Oak Harbor Royalty will be required to attend selected activities throughout the year. Any applicant entering this pageant under false pretenses will forfeit any title and all practicable prizes awarded to her. In the event that the selected Queen should ever fail to meet her Miss Oak Harbor obligations or breach any issue of the contract, she will be required to resign; the crown and sash must then be returned and all practicable prizes shall be forfeited. SPONSORSHIP: Contestants may wish to secure one large or several small sponsorships to help offset the cost of entering the Miss Oak Harbor Pageant. Sponsors may be businesses, friends, family members, etc. Sponsors paying your entry fee (up to 5) will be recognized under your photo in the keepsake program book and will be recognized when you appear on stage. If you wish to recognize and thank additional sponsors who have helped you in other ways, you may purchase a “Sponsor Space” for $20.00. Spaces are business card size and may also be used to send a good-luck message to contestants and may be combined for a larger space. Space design must be sent digitally to pageantwyse@gmail.com. FUNDRAISING: Contestants are required to actively participate in program fundraising, which may include but not be limited to: - Pageant ticket sales (contestants are required to sell [or purchase themselves] a minimum of 10 pageant tickets. Bonus points will be awarded for additional tickets sold. Contestants receive 1 free ticket for each 10 tickets sold.) - Pancake breakfast (contestants will sell tickets to the breakfast and participate in cooking and serving) - Car wash (contestants will sell tickets to the car wash and participate in washing cars) - Advertising (contestants will earn bonus points for selling advertisement space in the keepsake program) - Concessions at pageant (contestants are asked to either provide baked goods to sell or provide a family member to volunteer to work at the concessions table CLOTHING: With the exception of the contestant t-shirt, which is to be worn to all public appearances, contestants must provide their own clothing for the competition, including but not limited to: outfit for opening number, interview attire, formal dress, and proper exercise wear during choreography practice. COMMUNICATION: As communication with contestants will generally be by email, each contestant must have a valid email address that she checks regularly and which can be used for pageant communications. Cell phones should be used only for emergencies during any pageant activity. DISQUALIFICATION: Any contestant who exhibits unsportsmanlike conduct may be asked, at the director’s discretion, to leave the program and would then be ineligible for future competitions. Contestants and their supporters (family, friends) must abide by the decision of the judges. Any indiscriminate interference or negative comments may be cause for contestant’s disqualification from the competition and banning from future competitions. REFUNDS & CHECK POLICY: Contestants are free to withdraw from the competition at any time. However, refunds of any type—in part or in whole, paid by the contestant or on her behalf—will not be given unless contestant withdraws by the regular registration deadline (3/9/15) and requests a refund in writing. No refunds will be given after 3/9/15. Contestants are responsible for all checks written on their behalf. Should a check come back for any reason, a $5.00 fee, in addition to the cash value of the check, will be required. Contestant’s privilege to participate in pageant activities may be suspended until her account has been brought current.
