Come on a short walk to learn the basics about our ever-changing beaches at Fort Casey. Why is Admiralty inlet so unique? Where does all the driftwood come from? If you are new to beach processes, this is the walk for you! You might even be lucky and see some wildlife. Wear your walking shoes and a jacket. This will be an easy 1 hour, 1 mile walk with some uneven paths, stepping over driftwood, and a steep incline at the end. Discover Pass is required. Langley Soup Box Derby Sunday, August 25 First Street, Langley Since 1972, First Street in Downtown Langley has been home to some of the speediest and wackiest “soup box” racers one day every fall. Anyone can build a racer that can make it down a hill. But the Soup Box Derby is all about ingenuity, creativity, and a little bit of that Langley weirdness. Come check out the wacky designs and costumes that participants will wear in the wildest race on the island. And if you’re up for it, enter the race along with your friends. From polka to punk their diverse collection of songs are all played with one goal in mind: to get people up and moving. July 10: Janie Cribbs & T.Rust Janie Cribbs & T.Rust provides powerhouse vocals laced with gritty guitar featuring original soulful songs, compelling stories and bluesdrenched licks by members Janie Cribbs, Joe Reggiatore, Kevin Holden, and Dave Willis. July 24: Ruzivo and Ka 1 Ruzivo and Ka 1 join together for a compelling and danceable world music sound with contemporary and traditionally influenced Afro-pop dance music. Nick Mardon fronts the band with melodic vocals and a distinguished guitar sound. The rhythm section features Greg Olson on the electric bass and Andy Emery on drums and percussion.

The Whidbey Island Music Festival celebrates it's 14th season of fine barque and classical chamber music with six performances over two weekends.
