Ave. 4779 Bloom MN 55110-2764 White Bear Lake,

More than twelve vendors attended the Sept. 23rd farmer’s market, including a coffee roaster, a honey supplier and jewelry vendors. The Lexington Farmer’s Market runs throughout the summer on Wednesdays during the hours of 3-7 p.m. The market is located at 4175 Lovell Road and the season ends Oct. 14th. The market is organized by the Lexington Fire and Rescue Auxiliary. Julie Vanderbloomer, president, says the market is still in its infancy and the LFRA plans to include more vendors in the future.

by Michelle Miron Editor A new women's clothing boutique is expected to open in Forest Lake by the first or second week in October. Owning a franchise of the Apple Valley-based Mainstream Boutique will be Inver Grove Heights resident Kellee Nightengale, who most recently worked in sales and event management for the beauty industry. “I'll carry unique merchandise you're not going to find in chain stores,” she said of her product mix, which will include both accessories and clothing (sizes small through XL). “I'd say it's going to be more fun — merchandise you can wear to all kinds of different things. It's more fashionista type.” The 48-year-old entrepreneur said the 2,400-square-foot store will be one of the largest franchises in the state, partly because she saw the new space next to Starbucks at 2009 W. Broadway Ave. as ideal. Market research conducted with the franchisor recognized area demand for more women's clothing

vendors, she said. The store marks her first self-owned business. “My goal is to get really involved with Forest Lake and the community, not just opening the store and being open for business,” she said. “We'll probably end up moving closer to here as well.” Established in 1991, franchisor Mainstream uses its buying power to carry a wide variety of women's clothing, accessories and shoes bought internationally; franchisees may then choose their own merchandise mix based on their own customer demographics and preferences. Nightengale hopes to draw from a territory bounded at the south by the White Bear Lake Mainstream, at the east by the Stillwater Mainstream and at the west by the Blaine franchise. She expects 80 percent of her customer base to be age 30 and older, a demographic to which Starbucks also caters. The store will initially employ four people.
