Centerville resident invents solution for leaf woes BY SHANNON GRANHOLM EDITOR
CENTERVILLE — Day after day, Glen Simonson was fed up with wasting time and putting stress on his body while picking up leaves from his yard and garden. “It was really a pain. After bending down and picking them
up and bending down and picking them up, by the end of the day my back was sore. It took a long time, and I was tired of it,” he said. “I started to think about how I could make something that would hold the bag open, make it easier to get leaves in and yet be portable.” Simonson, a longtime resident of Centerville, was determined to
come up with a solution. After several iterations, Simonson developed a product he was happy with—GOBAGIT. GOBAGIT is an Americanmade product that holds open bags of different sizes and materials and attaches to a hand cart for easy mobility. It SEE GOBAGIT, PAGE 14

LINO LAKES — A Lino Lakes couple who recently built their home in the city visited the council Oct. 22 seeking advice about a new driveway that is not in compliance with city code. Aaron and Shannon Kne live on Robinson Drive. The Knes wanted to know if it would be worth their time to go through the variance process to correct their driveway, which is a foot wider than city code allows. “We were upset, because we paid an extra $1,000 to have our driveway installed straight down from the third stall with a nice edge to the street by Capstone Homes’ subcontractor, CNS Blacktopping. We have come to understand that the maximum (driveway) width per city code is 26 feet. We understand the city cannot allow residents to pave their entire yard, but unfortunately our driveway was installed incorrectly,” he said. Aaron added, “Since it is already complete, we are struggling to see how the one-foot difference has any impact on the city or our neighbors in terms of safety, aesthetics, drainage or anything else. Simply put, we feel we feel we are being punished for Capstone’s error. We trusted they were fully aware and compliant with all necessary codes.” He explained they were in front of the council because they were under the impression that city staff and the Planning
