LINO LAKES — When Mayor Jeff Reinert decided he was going to run for the Anoka County Commissioner District 6 seat, Councilman Rob Rafferty, who had two years left of his term, decided it was “the appropriate thing to do” to run for mayor.

“In talking with my wife and Mr. Reinert about the direction that he was going to be going, my wife and I talked about it and we felt that the appropriate thing to do was to run for mayor because it was clear to me that Mr. Reinert would be best fit running for county commissioner,” Rafferty explained.

Rafferty has lived in Lino Lakes for 23 years and is a senior technician at Architecture Advantage in St. Paul. He has served on the council for 10 years but has also served on the Lino Lakes Charter Commission, Planning and Zoning Commission and EDA. In the Nov. 5 election, Rafferty received 45.82% of the votes, followed by Tony Cavegn with 39.5%. Pat Davern and Ashley Antus were also running for the seat.

Thousands of Minnesotans flooded sites across the state to observe the moon and participate in hands-on astronomy activities this past weekend.

It was all part of the Bell Museum's inaugural Statewide Star Party Nov. 8-11.

Parties were held at 30 locations around the state at schools, colleges, museums, parks, organizations and libraries.

Centennial Library hosted a party Friday, Nov. 8.

“The purpose of the Statewide Star Party is twofold,” said Statewide Star Party Coordinator Nadia Abuisnaineh. “First, it's part of the Bell Museum’s Minnesota’s Astronomy Classroom Initiative in which we want to be a source of astronomy education to our communities, especially since the Bell Museum hosts the only public planetarium in the state.

“The second is to bring communities together from across the state to share in skywatching and astronomy activities.”

As a continuation of the museum’s yearlong celebration of the Apollo 11 50th anniversary, the theme of this inaugural telescope observing event was “Moon & Beyond.” The Bell Museum developed kits for host sites, which include handson science and astronomy activities for a variety of experience levels, reading lists and other resources. Despite a sign on the door in midOctober that announced Matthew's Family Restaurant was closing its doors after 23 years in business in Circle Pines, a new sign was spotted on the door last week that said the business would be “reopening soon.” The Quad Community Press has yet to hear from eatery owners Matt and Amy Salos, strip mall owner Patty Smith or former restaurant employees.

Students experimented with a magic bag that wouldn’t leak and watched Skittles shed their colors in a beautiful array. The kids then raced and coded small robots (DashBots) and watched the U of M Robotics team show off their giant custom robot.

For the budding architect, a stations featured a 3D printer, architectural floor plans, 3D floor plate and a Snapology booth showing kids how to master the design process. Radio buffs had a chance to send digital images and morse code messages over the radio.

Residents dropping materials off at the site must provide proof of county residency, such as a driver's license.

The facility accepts household hazardous waste from residents of Anoka, Carver, Dakota, Hennepin, Ramsey and Washington counties.

Businesses, organizations and schools may not bring hazardous waste to the facility. Wastes that are not accepted include ammunition, appliances, batteries, dried paint, electronics, empty containers, radioactive wastes, railroad ties and tires. Anoka County to receive local Government Innovation Award Anoka County will be one of 17 local government entities statewide to be recognized at the Humphrey School of Public Affairs’ Local Government Innovation Awards (LGIA) Dec. 12. Awards are given to counties, cities, townships, schools and native nations that are making Minnesota better and doing things differently.

Anoka County will receive a 2019 LGIA award for its Human Services Leadership Mentorship Program, which was developed to connect new leaders to more experienced staff for increased support.

It is the expectation that this program will increase workforce retention and positively impact the quality of supervision, program service delivery and enhance customer service. The 12-month program started in October 2018.

Seasoned supervisors, managers and directors interested in the program completed interest forms and identified individual expertise as well as areas where they wanted to expand their professional growth.

A tournament deemed the “Centennial Chess Club Championship” was held Oct. 20. Participant Devon Swenson checkmated his way to win the tournament; Owen Carter finished in second place and Nik Samaroo placed third. Instructor Brian Bohne, who has played chess internationally, was impressed by the increasing tactics and strategies employed by the participants. An upcoming session of Chess at Centennial Elementary will be held in January. Anyone interested in registering

Safe Harbor Program succeeds in supporting at-risk youth services, and 88% noted a positive change in their situation. Almost all (94%) respondents felt more hopeful after receiving services, and 100% felt more prepared to reach educational goals. In addition, 94% said they would seek help from police if they felt unsafe, while 89% felt more prepared to support themselves financially in a safe way.

The evaluation also found that Safe Harbor could be even more effective by decreasing service and training gaps and addressing systemic challenges.

Additional needs include housing, mental health, long-term services, rural services, culturally specific services and services for victims/survivors over age 24.

“No young person should have to face the trauma of sexual exploitation,” said Human Services Commissioner Jodi Harpstead. “It’s up to us to

make sure the right supports are in place to help them as they recover so they can go on to lead full, healthy lives. This evaluation shows that the right interventions make all of the difference.”

An evaluation of the state’s Safe Harbor Program has found that most at-risk and sexually exploited youth in the program reported feeling more hopeful and better prepared for the future.

Wilder Research completed its third evaluation of Minnesota’s Safe Harbor program, a multiagency statewide initiative designed to meet the needs of sex-trafficked and exploited young people through age 24 using a public health, public safety, human services and human rights approach. Program funds allow agencies and grantees to provide supportive services, housing and shelter, and to deliver training, coordinate across disciplines, and conduct outreach.

Between April 2017 and March 2019, Safe Harbor grantees served 1,279 youth and young adults, including 977 new clients. The last evaluation published in November 2017 found that from April 2015 to June 2017, Safe Harbor grantees provided services to 1,423 people.

“It’s encouraging to see the positive impact of Minnesota’s Safe Harbor approach as we all work to address the serious problem of sexual exploitation,” Minnesota Commissioner of Health Jan Malcolm said. “Our public health model is focused on giving young people the tools they need — housing, education and support from trusted adults — to rebuild their lives after sex trafficking. We need to build on this success and make sure we reach all exploited youth where they are at in their schools and communities.”

The average age of participants served under Safe Harbor was 17. A slightly higher percentage of youth served were in greater Minnesota (54%) compared to the metro area (46%). Most participants were female (91%), while 6% identified as male and 3% as transgender, gendernonconforming and other. More than half (59%) of participants were people of color.

Positive persuasion

he training in our household seems to be progressing as planned. I’ve been doing the best I can dealing with the challenges and limitations of this type of interspecies communication. While apparently not the quickest study, the big one is definitely making progress, while the smaller one has made great strides in understanding some of the subtle nuances of both the verbal and nonverbal messages I’m sending to communicate my needs and moods.

I’ve managed to work out a pretty nice routine with the big one when he comes home in the evening. After I greet him at the door, he bends down at just the right angle so I can leap up onto his shoulder. After I position myself correctly, I purr in his ear to calm him and communicate that I’m ready to proceed. Sometimes he has a mind of his own and we end up Angle of scooting around the house, stopping to check on various things and look View out windows at the birds and squirrels outside. I continue to purr because I Bean enjoy the unique perspective these jaunts provide, but I have to admit my favorite is when we make a stop at the large box that has cool air and treats inside. With my patience and guidance he has learned how to feed me bite sized morsels of leftover chicken (dark meat please) while I remain perched comfortably on his shoulder. I have to give credit to the smaller one as well, because she is consistently finding new and creative ways to entertain and challenge me during our play sessions.

While I’m pleased with the progress we’ve made I realize that we’ve had our share of misunderstandings. Sometimes I do get impatient and don’t know how to properly release my pent up energy and frustration. I’ve learned the hard way that when I lash out with surprise nips and scratches it just gets me shunned and banished, which believe it or not, kind of hurts my feelings. They’ve learned that yelling just makes me more agitated and confused.

I think all of us are gaining an appreciation for the power of positive reinforcement while realizing the futility of lashing out with anger and negativity. I’ve discovered that I can get virtually everything I need by practicing my positive persuasion techniques, including one of my best moves, a spontaneous flop on my side combined with a twist, stretch and purrs.

I’ve even helped the big one alleviate any remaining guilt he might have concerning his napping habits.

When I find him napping I either climb up on his side and find a secure resting spot or snuggle up near his chest. I’m an avid proponent and living example of the rejuvenating power of naps.

There have been occasions when my household companions have come in from the outside smelling like they’ve been cavorting with dogs. I hear names like Bruno and Ella and recollections of how much fun was had with these animals, followed by a discussion about the feasibility of introducing a puppy into the household. I suppose I could get worried or panic, but instead I choose to find ways to demonstrate and reaffirm my positive attributes and versatility as a pet. If there was a job description checklist for an ideal pet, I’m confident that I would compare favorably against the competition in a number of categories.

However, be assured that I’m not complacent about my current situation. I started my life on the street and in foster care before I was adopted through Second Chance Animal Rescue based in White Bear Lake, so I realize what my life could have been. With this in mind, if they decide to get a puppy, I hope they consider a rescue animal.

So, overall things appear to be moving quite nicely toward world domination. Oops, I mean positive and mutually beneficial coexistence.

Paying tribute to our veterans

n the 11th day, of the 11th month, we pay a special tribute to our veterans—honoring those who served in every war since our nation was founded.

Whether it was the beaches of Normandy, the hills of Korea, the mountains of Afghanistan, the deserts of Iraq, or right here at home—these extraordinary men and women all heard the call of duty and answered it.

When our servicemembers signed up to Legislator serve there wasn’t a waiting Lingo line, and when they come home Amy Klobuchar there shouldn’t be a waiting line f the th benefi b fitts tthey’ve earned. for That’s why we’ve worked across the aisle to modernize the G.I. Bill benefits for our troops, strengthen funding for veterans’ health care, improve mental health care for our soldiers, and ensure that our VA system provides shorter waits and better care. Our veterans deserve to be treated with the dignity befitting their sacrifice and that also means making sure they have a

safe and affordable home.

Our state has long been a leader in addressing veteran homelessness and in 2014, established the Minnesota Homeless Veteran Registry to identify known homeless veterans and connect them with housing and social services – veterans like Mark Kray.

Mark is a veteran of the U.S. Army who spent years sleeping in his Chevrolet Malibu with his wife Marjorie—moving between highway rest stops and parking lots in the Twin Cities.

But because of the Minnesota Homeless Veteran Registry, Mark and Marjorie were able to sign up for a housing voucher and were booked into a hotel until they could find their own apartment. Through her tears, Marjorie described it as “so overwhelming. It’s like someone waved a magic wand and turned our lives upside down.”

Since the registry was established, Minnesota has helped more than 1,800 previously homeless veterans find housing. This is impressive progress that, according to Kathryn Monet, Chief Executive of the National Coalition for Homeless Veterans, can be “a model for the rest of the country.” And since taking

office, Governor Tim Walz has continued making this a top priority for the state – pledging to become one of the fi rst states in the country to effectively end veteran homelessness. The least we can do for those who served our country is to make sure they have a home.

That’s why earlier this year, I asked the Secretary of the Department of Veterans Affairs to examine whether the VA could benefit from implementing a program similar to Minnesota’s at the federal level.

I believe that when we ask our servicemembers to sacrifice for us in defense of our nation, we make a promise that we’re going to give them and their families the support they need when they come home. It is our sacred duty to do right by those who have done so much for us.

So to all our veterans, whose service has never wavered, our support for you must stay just as strong. There’s no limit to the respect you’ve earned, no cap to the honor you’re due, and no time when we won’t be in your debt. Thank you for fighting for this country and its people.

Cruel apple caramel cake

B

eing the cook in the family has the advantage of getting to choose what I feel like cooking or baking. I cook, I choose. Simple. Family members can always make requests, but I get to decide, ultimately.

My philosophy is to eat anything and everything in moderation. I prefer healthy food choices over unhealthy ones. Eighty percent of the time I eat and make healthy things. The other 20 is for special treats. Occasionally a family member will decide they don’t want to eat any sweets and ask me not to make treats. What? Me, not make treats?

My suggestion: Don’t come home on Friday (that’s when I bake treats)—go for a run instead. The house will be filled with the sweet smell of apples and caramel baking. It will be a serious lesson in selfcontrol if you do. At least I warned them.

The real issue is self-control. Just because the cake I baked is divine, you don’t have to eat the whole cake. I know it may sound like I’m being cruel, but I’m not. The thought of not making yummy treats sounds crueler.

Apple Caramel Cake Caramel sauce: 1/4 cup butter or margarine 2/3 cup brown sugar 1/4 cup vanilla ice cream Cake: 2 tart apples, sliced the Wild round way, cored 1 1/2 cups cake flour Chow 1 tsp baking powder 1 tsp ground cinnamon Lisa Erickson 1 tsp salt 1 cup brown sugar 1/2 butter, softened 2 eggs 1 1/2 tsp vanilla 1/3 cup milk Preheat oven to 325°F. Spray a 9-inch cake pan with cooking spray; set aside.

For the caramel sauce: Melt butter over medium heat in a small saucepan. Stir in brown sugar. Heat

to boiling; remove from heat and stir in ice cream.

Pour into the bottom of the prepared pan and spread evenly. Arrange apple slices over the caramel sauce in a circular decorative pattern.

For the cake: In large bowl, mix the flour, baking powder, cinnamon, and the salt and set aside.

In another large bowl, beat the brown sugar and butter with a hand mixer at medium speed, scraping bowl occasionally, until pale and fluffy; about 3 minutes. Beat in eggs, one at a time. Add vanilla. Gradually beat in flour mixture alternating with milk, beating after each addition until batter is smooth. Spread batter over apples.

Bake for 1 hour or until cake springs back in the middle. Cool for 10 minutes.

Run a knife around sides of pan to loosen the cake.

Place the serving plate upside down over the pan and flip the cake. Remove pan. Serve cake warm with a scoop of ice cream on the side.

Not consistent with our character Thanks to Lexington Council Member, John Hughes, the five-story Norhart apartment complex was not approved on Nov. 7 in its current configuration…for now. Hughes was the one dissenting vote on this project. Council members Diane Harris and Kim DeVries and Mayor Mike Murphy all voted to approve the project. These council members do not represent the interests of Lexington homeowners. Remember this when they are running for reelection.

A five-story, two block long, 355 unit apartment complex is not consistent with the character of our community.

This project is clearly in violation of several ordinances. This property will be developed, but townhomes or condominiums owned by people

who want to put down roots in our community are much better options.

Cougars stellar grid season halted by No. 1 Wayzata 38-21

One of Centennial’s best football season came to an end when the Cougars ran into unbeaten, No. 1 ranked Wayzata in the state quarterfinals Friday evening.

The Trojans (10-0) and their outstanding ballcarrier Christian Vassar fended off Centennial 38-21 at Chanhassen. The Cougars finished 8-3 with two playoff wins.

“We played them tough.

I’m proud of the kids,” coach Mike Diggins said. “We were down five defensive players and one offensive. We ran the ball pretty well. We were within three points in the fourth quarter.”

Centennial, stout on defense all season despite injuries, could not contain Vassar, who slashed for 237 yards and two touchdowns on 25 carries.

The Trojans also scored twice on passes.

The Cougars lost another defender as lineman Carter Kohler was held out due to symptoms of a concussion from the previous game.

against an outstanding Trojan defense. The senior back scored on runs of 44 and 20 yards and totaled 86 yards in 15 carries.

The Cougars’ light offensive line was outweighed by about 80 pounds per man, Diggins said. “But we got outside on them pretty often.

Their coach told me we were the best offensive team they have faced.”

Wayzata has held seven of 11 opponents to 10 points or less. The Cougars’ 21 points was the most they’ve allowed.

Two first-half fumbles

were costly for Centennial in its upset bid, both by Connor Zulk in the last game of an exceptional two-year career at quarterback.

After Larson’s 44-yard touchdown on an option pitch tied the score 7-7, the Cougars recovered an onside kick, but Zulk lost the ball two plays later.

While trailing 17-14 late in the half, the Cougars reached the Trojan 39.

“We decide to throw to the tight end, which we have not done in two years, hoping to surprise them,” Diggins said.

They did not get the chance, as Wayzata linebacker Loshaika Roques chased down Zulk and hit him hard from behind, shaking the ball loose. Drew Berkland scooped up the ball and dashed 56 yards for a touchdown, giving Wayzata a 24-14 halftime lead.

“That hurt. Suddenly we were down by 10,” Diggins said Zulk completed seven of 10 passes for 64 yards. He hit Tim O’Neill for a fouryard touchdown, capping a drive that gave them a

Centennial Football Austin Wlaschin, Centennial’s 6-1, 175-pound senior outside linebacker, was a key component in Centennial’s 8-3 football season as he covered receivers and stopped ballcarriers with equal aplomb. Coach Mike Diggins assessed: “I think Austin was the best defensive player in the Metro North District. He is a tough kid. He’s smart. He’s going to play on Saturday afternoons.”

Also a fullback, Wlaschin carried 85 times for 404 yards and three touchdowns, including the overtime TD in a 21-20 playoff win over Edina.

Olivia Lovick was one of three freshmen playing for Centennial when the Cougars won the state championship game in 2016 over Rosement 2-1.

Lovick and twins Mallory and Madison Monson are now seniors and finally returned to the state tournament — and returned to the finals — this year, losing to Maple Grove 2-1, taking home the state runner-up trophy.

“Mallory, Maddie and I played in that game (2016). It was frustrating to lose in the section finals the last two years, but we got back this year,” Lovick reflected.

Lovick, a forward, and Mallory and Madison, a defender and midfielder, respectively, were named to the allNorthwest Suburban Conference team, along with junior forward Khyah Harper and senior defender Molly Mosher, after the banner season.

“We knew we would have one of the top teams,” Lovick said. “We had some players coming in that we knew would have an impact. Our goals were to win conference and the section. And late in the season, we added another one, to play at U.S. Bank Stadium.”

SPORTS BRIEFS Cougar skaters fall to No. 1 Breck in opener Centennial girls hockey had a humbling opening game Saturday, losing 10-1 to the Breck Mustangs, state Class A champions the last two years and ranked No. 1 again. Olivia Mobley and Shae Messner each tallied three goals for Breck.

Cougar swimmers place 3rd in section, season ends Centennial’s swim team concluded its season with a thirdplace finish among eight teams, and no state qualifiers, in Section 7AA, Thursday through Saturday at Northdale in Coon Rapids.

Joe Boyd, a 5-10, 205-pound senior center, was named top offensive lineman in the Metro North District. Coach Mike Diggins described Boyd as “very strong, smart and with great feet.”

All-conference and other team awards will be announced after the team banquet on Dec. 1, Diggins said.

The Bell Museum allowed party hosts some flexibility to add their own components to the event. One thing that is unique about Centennial's event is it was the only one that had a visit from Mike Lynch, a meteorologist at WCCO Radio. Lynch has hosted star watch parties and taught astronomy classes for over 48 years.

Library Associate Matt Youngbauer said, “We have always been big fans of science and astronomy at Centennial (Library).

We had Mike Lynch at our old building several years ago and had a really great response.

While the program was fantastic, the room we

bundled into that cold night was a little cozy.

We wanted to have him back now that folks can have a little more elbow room in our new community space.”

Attendees looked through telescopes/ binoculars pointed at the moon, Saturn, Jupiter, star clusters, galaxies and other great celestial treasures and checked out constellations like The Big Bear, Cygnus the Swan and Pegasus the Winged Horse and learned about the stories behind them.

Along with traditional visual telescopes, there was an astronomical camera system that allowed attendees to see distant celestial targets on a video screen.

Moon-themed activities included calculating how high your jump is on the moon, making a scale model of the Earth moon system and a

moon coloring puzzle.

Glow-in-the-dark shirts were also available for purchase.

“To look through a telescope, or to spend the night looking up at the stars, can be a mesmerizing experience,” Abuisnaineh said.

“We want to share this beauty and experience with our friends and communities.

Immersing ourselves in the natural world around us is free and such a rewarding experience.”

If there is enough interest, Abuisnaineh said the hope is to make the Statewide Star Party an annual event.

Now that the election is behind us, Rafferty is “relieved” and thankful for all of the support. He said he is excited about the opportunity and challenge.

“I am looking forward to working with a new council. I can make it a difficult two years, or I can try to continue to work with people that I have never worked with before just like the last four years. You have to find ways to work together,” he said. “We have differences but at the end of the day we can agree to disagree, but let's

figure out a way to make it move forward and somehow come to some common ground.”

As far as his priorities go, Rafferty said he plans on focusing on tangible things, such as parks and trails and roads. “My mission is going to be really simple, it is going to be trying to continue the effort to build on what we have done over the last 10 years. We worked hard, we cut things that needed to be cut, we got rid of excess,” he said. “We have been successful in not cutting the (roads) budget and trying to increase it by 5% on an annual basis, now

that has to continue, but we still have to continue to work away at other tangible things like parks and trails, the things that are being used.”

For now, Rafferty and Reinert will continue to work together on the council until 2020, when Rafferty will take over as Mayor and Reinert will continue his campaign for county commissioner, which will be decided in February.

Anne Blilie I am proud to be an American because almost 319 million people (actually 320 million including me) from literally every single country in the world sleeping under our flag each night get to wake up every morning knowing freedom; the right to choose; to make choices all day every day. A right we enjoy because brave men and women fought throughout our history to get it and to this day fight to protect.

In America every day is our choice, an opportunity to be who we are. We get to be ourselves, choose our friends, actions and our lives. We wear the clothing we want, style our hair how we want, pray to a God of our choosing (or our parent’s choosing), speak our mind (mom says I can only if my words don’t hurt someone. Maybe speaking mind is only if you are a big person), follow our dreams, decide what we want to be when we grow up or even where we might want to live.

I am proud to be an American because America does not do things on her own or without others.

Every day her people work to be better, bolder and wiser.

The America I am growing

up in and learning about is clear-eyed, big-hearted and undaunted by challenge.

Having the freedom to come and go from Minnesota, earn/save/ spend money, come to Blue Heron Elementary every day, be able to choose to go to college and who to marry or not for many Americans is just part of life. Many of us have forgotten what a wonderful gift freedom is.

In some countries, people dream about and wish for freedom. They do not get to leave their country or providence without a government saying okay, they can not marry who they want or even go to school after a certain grade.

The Declaration of Independence. I am proud to be American because 243 years later the America Dream is still real.

Right now, my dad is deployed in Iraq for the next year. I’m very sad that he is gone and I miss him very much, but I’m very proud of what he is doing for us and our country. Men and women go a long time without seeing their friends and family.

POLICE REPORTS

• A school counselor reported a that student disclosed that they were sexually assaulted Oct. 29.

The investigation is ongoing.

• Officers responded to a call regarding a male at an area restaurant in the 600 block of Apollo Drive with several outstanding warrants Oct. 29. The male was arrested on three confi rmed warrants.

• Officers responded to assist the Centennial Lakes Police Department with an uncooperative driver at a traffic stop in the 1900 block of Robin Lane in Centerville Oct. 30. The driver refused to step out of the vehicle; officers had to use force to remove the driver.

The driver was arrested on multiple charges.

• Officers responded to a possible medical call in the 700 block of Village Drive

Oct. 30. After an investigation, an adult female was arrested for DWI, test refusal and open bottle.

• Officers completed tobacco compliance checks at all the establishments that sell tobacco Oct. 30.

Two establishments failed the compliance checks, and two adult males are being charged with selling tobacco to a minor.

• Police and fi re responded to a personal injury accident in the area of Main Street and Sunset Avenue Oct. 31. Two people were transported to an area hospital by ambulance and two vehicles had to be towed from the scene.

One of the involved drivers was cited for failure to yield.

• An officer responded to a theft report in the 1500 block of Ash Street Oct. 31.

A boat, motor and trailer were taken from the victim's yard overnight. The case is under investigation.

• An officer responded to a report of a juvenile riding a dirt bike on the roadway in the 100 block of Ulmer Drive Oct. 31.

Officers located the juvenile and a parent was advised.

• Officers responded to a call of an accident with injuries in the area of Lake Drive and I-35W Nov. 1.

Officers arrived and one individual was transported to the hospital. Both vehicles involved were driven from the scene.

The Centennial Lakes Police Department reported the following incidents: • Officers were dispatched to the 7000 block of Brian Drive in Centerville Nov. 1 on a damage to property report.

Officers took photos of the damage.

• An officer responded to multiple reports of damaged mailboxes on Sunset Avenue Nov. 2. The officer found two mailboxes/ posts had been struck by a vehicle that did not stop. The case is under investigation.

• Police took a delayed report of sexual harassment Nov. 1 that occurred in Lexington.

• Officers performed traffic stops on two vehicles in the 100 block of Apollo Drive Nov. 3. The vehicles were searched; officers located drugs in both vehicles.

The drivers were subsequently arrested for possession of controlled substances.

• Officers responded to a possible medical situation in a vehicle at a business in the 600 block of Apollo Drive Nov. 4. After further investigation, an adult female was arrested for DWI and open bottle, among other charges.

• Officers were dispatched to the 3800 block of Restwood Road in Lexington Nov. 1 for an unwanted male at a business.

Police subsequently trespassed two males from the property.

Circle in Centerville Nov. 3.

• Officers received a walk-in report Nov. 4 regarding a theft. The complainant advised that an unknown suspect stole a leaf blower from a construction site near Lake Drive and Golden Lake Road in Circle Pines.

• Police responded to the area of Lovell Road and Lexington Avenue in Lexington Nov. 5 on report of a property damage accident. Upon arrival, officers located the involved vehicles in a nearby

parking lot, verified that there were no injuries and assisted the drivers in exchanging information.

• Officers conducted a traffic stop in the area of 20th Avenue and Robin Lane North in Centerville Oct. 30. The driver was subsequently arrested for fourth-degree DWI. • Police responded to Laurie LaMotte Memorial Park in Centerville Oct. 30 for a vandalism report. Police notified the public works department.

• Police were dispatched to LaMotte Park in Centerville Nov. 2 on report of a person driving a mini dirt bike on the trails. Officers subsequently located two individuals who were subsequently warned for driving on the bike paths.

• Officers were dispatched to the 200 block of Heritage Lane in Circle Pines Nov. 3 on a civil dispute. Officers helped to mediate the situation.

• Damage to property was reported in the 6900 block of Meadow

The Lino Lakes Public Safety Department reported the following incidents: • Officers received a phone call report regarding narcotics information at a business in the 8000 block of Lake Drive Oct. 29. The investigation is ongoing.
