Tradition of family-friendly musical productions continue at St. Odilia BY RITA LAMATSCH CONTRIBUTING WRITER

Local residents who love live theater have enjoyed St. Odilia Musical Ministry productions for more than 30 years. This year, St. Odilia is continuing the tradition of sharing Biblical and life-changing stories

through theater and song with a staging of “Little Women”. Performances take place at St. Odilia Catholic Church in Shoreview from Feb. 6 through Feb. 10. Not only is the show content family friendly, the entire production is — as evidenced by the many families and

lifelong friends who play a role in all parts of staging the show, from cast and crew to costuming, lighting, sound and orchestra. Some family engagements in this musical ministry stretch across generations. “It is so amazing and fun to have three generations performing together in

the show,” described cast member Chris Brossart, whose parents, wife and children and several other family members are also involved in the musical. “The ministry continues to inspire such growth in our community. I watch families grow and SEE LITTLE WOMEN, PAGE 2

She has asked for the city’s communication staff to help spread the word about the need for election judges via social media, and she suspects she will need to connect with staff at Anoka County Elections for additional resources to recruit additional judges. Chaika guesses one factor that could be impacting election judge numbers is safety. “One concern I’ve had heard from several former election judges is that they have decided to no longer participate as election judges because they’re concerned for their safety due to the current state of politics nationwide, especially leading

a huge cause for concern just yet. City Clerk Jolleen Chaika says that so far, the city has received around 61 applications. She said she has the number of judges she needs to staff the polling locations in the city for the presidential nominating primary on March 5 and the state primary on Aug. 13, due to historically lower voter turnout than on election day in November. “I would like to see additional election judges for the primaries; life happens, and sometimes folks need to step down at the last minute,” she explained. “I will certainly need many more for the November election. I would like to see at least double what I have now for Nov. 5.”
