Nine years ago Whitedot was created to produce focused freeride skis. Since then Whitedot has seen continuous success in the international marketplace by leading the industry in material development and using innovative product design. Austrian pro-skier Eva Walkner, has achieved multiple first class world podium places on her Whitedot skis and in 2015 won 1st Place in the Freeride World Tour, proving our skis on the world stage. Whitedot was created with the intent that we would not make a wide variety of skis, instead focusing our products on specific roles within the mountain’s freeride environments. Our skis will take you from those early season days on the piste, through mid-season powder and backcountry exploration, on to the season’s close high on the glaciers as you escape to the farthest reaches that hold onto that last snow. Whitedot exceeds expectations by maintaining our company ethos and pushing the Purity of Purpose, Clarity of Design, Reliable Performance and Innovative Technology that we have at our very core. Ski safely and ski responsibly. Make the most of, and appreciate, the aweinspiring mountain terrain. Take your Whitedot skis and find your freedom.

THE WHITEDOT CONSTRUCTIONS EXPLAINED

Traditional C onstr uc tion We make our skis with a sandwich construction, this is because it is the most robust, precise and torsionally strong construction method currently known. Our Traditional range is built with a mixture of Bi-Axial and Tri-Axial Fibre-glass, Carbon/Kevlar Stringers and like all of our skis, a vertically laminated Poplar-Ash Core to ensure a consistent flex throughout the length of the ski. The Traditional construction offers mass and momentum through the snow that a lightweight ski cannot match, it produces a ski that is more stable particularly in difficult conditions. The Traditional construction suits skiers exploring terrain closer to home on the frontside of the mountain.

C arbonlite C onstr uc tion We are now on the third iteration of our Carbonlite construction as we constantly develop and improve our materials, prototyping, testing and rolling out new Flax angles and weave. We blend Flax and Carbon fibre to replace the Fibre-glass layers used in our Traditional construction resulting in the Carbonlite series being 25% lighter by comparison. Carbonlite is less susceptible to degradation. The structure of the fibres within the weave of the Flax and Carbon will not break with flexing and so remain structurally sound. The skier benefits from being more agile, more reactive and able to ski longer as the skis are less tiring on the legs!

THE WHITEDOT CAMBERS EXPLAINED

Positiv e C amber Positive camber is how most people think a ski should look; when a pair of skis are placed together, the tips and tails touch near either end of the ski, with an air gap in the middle. This has the advantage of pressing the tip and tail of the ski into the snow, giving the ski maximum stability from the very start of the turn through to the finish. With the in-built ‘spring’ of the camber bringing a level of liveliness to the ride on firm snow.

Tip R ocke r In soft conditions adding a degree of rise to the tip smooths the entry of the ski through the snow, allowing the ski to plane quicker and earlier than a conventional cambered ski. When turning in both soft and hard conditions the added lift in the tip means the first part of the ski is de-cambered and ‘pre-bent’ into a carving profile, resulting in less effort to initiate a turn, in all conditions.

Tip & Tail R ocker Where the tip affects the first stage of a turn the tail affects the latter stage, reducing the pressure of the ski pushing into the snow. In softer conditions where the tail is partially sunk this will reduce drag, making it easier to break the tail free. Our signature full length sidecut combined with tail rocker frees up the tail without sacrificing grip, giving you a high level of maneuverability.

Z.S er ies Twin tipped, rockered and built for fun, our Z.Series utilises Whitedot’s unique design philosophy and zero camber to form a range of skis for creative riding.

CATCHING UP WITH THE 2015 FEMALE FREERIDE WORLD TOUR CHAMPION

Eva Walkner Freer ide World Tour C hampion 2015

“Firstly, congratulations on winning the 2015 Freeride World Tour, what an amazing achievement and very well deserved. Can you take us through some of the preparation that you had to go through after your 2014 season.”

and their level of skiing. My plan was, a solid year with

Thanks a lot! I´m still so happy to have reached

moment I will remember for my whole life.

my biggest goal. It was really hard work for me, the comeback from an injury is double the work. I was training every day, physio, mental preparation and I was totally focused on the one goal. I had a lot of time for the preparation, it took me two years to come back after my three knee surgeries. But, I´m a fighter and if I set a goal I work very hard to reach it, the day I received the belt for the overall title was the best day in my competing life!

“How did you feel after taking the win in the opening round in Chamonix, that must have been an amazing feeling and a great reward after two difficult years.” Honestly, I thought I could reach the podium, maybe, if everything worked well. I was crazy nervous before the start, I’ve never been so horribly nervous before as I was in Chamonix, it was not a nice feeling. I had no idea how the level was, I had been away from competing for two years and didn´t know the new faces

good results, qualifying for the [Freeride] World Tour again and trying to win the title in 2016. I had Number 1 and finished with a good feeling but I had no idea how the other girls were doing. When I realised my victory I was crying at the finish line. I can´t describe the feeling in words. Two years of surgeries, pain, ups and downs and I come back finishing with the 1st Place at the first competition of the season. A special

“Alaska is something every skier would love to experience, tell us a little about your experience in this mecca.” Well, to be honest, AK can be really really cool - a once in a lifetime experience but it can be also be pretty disappointing. I have experienced both. If you are unlucky you spend a lot of down days at the heli base, and if it´s a bad winter you will ski sun effected and crusty snow as well. If you are lucky, it can be the best experience of your life. The best is to go to AK with really no expectations. If you have a good crew, no filming stress (filming means waiting, waiting, waiting) and a great guide it will be fun for sure. The most impressive thing in AK is skiing infront of the mountain scenery! The runs are not very different compared to good runs in Europe but skiing in between those massive mountains, that´s really special.

CATCHING UP WITH THE 2015 FEMALE FREERIDE WORLD TOUR CHAMPION

“What did winning the Tour and achieving the title of World Champion mean to you? Where do you go in your career from here and what is your focus?“ On the competition side, it means everything. A lot of men and women are trying to win the title at least once … That’s the big goal for everybody. Of course i will try to defend the title but I’m putting no pressure on myself, I can be a little bit more relaxed now - I’m not sure if that is good or bad! But with the title in the bag, everything is easier for me, everything is so much more relaxed now and I have a lot of other cool projects on the go so competing is just one part of my winter. In the future I will focus more on expeditions and filming trips … and less competing.

“What is your advice for up and coming freeskiers, especially those looking to push it in backcountry terrain?“ Go out as much as you can and have fun! It doesn´t matter if there is bad snow, it’s raining, it’s a powder day or the sun is shining - you can learn something new every day. An avalanche course is mandatory. Ask for a avalanche safety course or safety equipment instead of a computer game for your Christmas present, and focus on your goals. You have to realise that the sport is so much more than just skiing - you have to work hard to one day live from your skiing. If you are hard-working the success will come sooner or later. The most important thing is though, don´t forget to smile when you are shredding with your buddies!
