INTERTWINE
DESIGN
STATEMENT
‘Intertwine’ is a collection that takes inspiration from African artefacts and the ancient form art of origami – creating unexpected fusion between two history-rich cultures. The collection is made up of four pieces, three bodies, which is designed to reject the natural body as the ideal silhouette. A variety of prints, textiles and textures are incorporated and intertwined throughout these garments.

Creative Bio
Maryama Saed is a Melbourne-based emerging fashion designer who centers her creative identity through the lens of culture and history. Saed strives to tie multiple themes with a modern twist aiming to create work that is both relevant and innovative.
This is evident throughout Saed’s work, where experimentation with silhouettes challenges the concept of the ideal body as the standard. Saed’s designs also showcase vibrant colors and unique prints, often incorporating and personalizing them to create a distinctive aesthetic.
