We are pleased to share with you the most exciting offering of educational and retail products ever produced by The White House Historical Association.
The Official 2019 White House Christmas Ornament features President Dwight D. Eisenhower, who was the first president to make use of the helicopter for presidential travel. We are grateful to have the support of Lockheed Martin, the parent company of Sikorsky, the manufacturer of the presidential helicopter since 1957.
This year marks the 58th year of the Association’s work since our founding by First Lady Jacqueline Kennedy in 1961. We are a non-profit and non-partisan organization and our mission remains the same from president to president. We are proud to represent the American people in providing non-taxpayer funding to maintain the museum-quality of the beautiful State Rooms that Mrs. Kennedy envisioned when she inspired the creation of our organization. We also undertake robust educational programs, teaching the stories of the White House and its history going back to 1792 when President George Washington laid the cornerstone.

THE OFFICIAL 2019 WHITE HOUSE ORNAMENT
The White House Historical Association’s Official 2019 White House Christmas Ornament honors Dwight D. Eisenhower, the thirty-fourth president of the United States from 1953 to 1961. Throughout his notable presidency, Eisenhower was an innovator, a trait to which the helicopter represented in this ornament pays tribute. The design of the 2019 White House Christmas Ornament follows President Eisenhower’s example of fairness. As the first president to regularly use a helicopter, he had two Executive Flight Detachments for his transport. These were provided by flight crews of the United States Army and the United States Marine Corps. To demonstrate his impartiality, Eisenhower alternated between these helicopters and their respective military personnel. Likewise the 2019 White House Christmas Ornament does not represent a single helicopter. One side features the Presidential Seal, representing Eisenhower’s two terms as commander in chief of the Armed Forces. On the other is his five-star rank, honoring his military service as a general in the United States Army.

VICTORIAN COLLECTION
Jewelry of the Victorian era, which corresponded to the reign of Queen Victoria of England from 1837 to 1901, was feminine, sentimental, and often symbolic. The use of seed pearls in brooches, tiaras, and earrings helped define Victorian fashion and President Abraham Lincoln, in fact, gave his wife Mary Todd a stylish necklace and two bracelets adorned with seed pearls to wear to his first Inaugural Ball in 1861.
