Trails along Corridors 11 and 19 connect the Lincoln-Woodstock area with points north and east like Twin Mountain, Gorham and Conway .

than cutting your own Christmas tree, or choosing from fresh precut trees at one of the region’s tree farms. Every day until December 23, you can cut your own with a permit in the White Mountain National Forest.

Smarts Brook | Thornton
This popular loop trail on Rte . 49 is great for winter hikers and snowshoers alike . This beautiful walk in the woods features foot bridges, a brook, and a couple smaller waterfalls . Explore the large ice formations along the rock face at the start of the loop .
Cathedral Ledge | Conway
The gate at the base of the auto road is closed for the winter season, but parking is allowed at the gate and then hikers and snowshoers can walk up the 1-mile road to the 1,159-foot summit of Cathedral Ledge . Enjoy commanding views down into the Mount Washington Valley, and the Moat Mountain Range .

Parking is limited, so opt for a plan B in case the lot is full! This is a great beginner winter hike as the trail is an easy 1 .6-mile loop that features the beautiful Rainbow Falls at approximately the halfway point . There are benches located at the falls and surrounding the marsh that is also on the nature preserve property .

Lonesome Lake | Franconia Notch
This 3 .1-mile loop trail is on the moderate side of difficult . Your end destination will be Lonesome Lake, a 12-acre lake with stunning views of Franconia Ridge . The trailhead is accessible from the Lafayette Place Campground parking lot .
