2011 – an unmissable line-up of entertainment! Lenny Henry Fri 11 Feb
The Vienna Festival Ballet Wed 30 March
The White Rock Theatre continues to bring you the best in comedy, music and dance. There are great shows for kids, a superb line-up of new and established comedians and the renowned Hastings Musical Festival returns. And when you’re seeing a show, why not try our new bistro menu? The Pavilion Café is perfect for a light bite or just a drink before the show. If you’re planning your own special event, from a wedding reception to a business meeting, don’t forget the White Rock Theatre has a variety of different spaces – accommodating 20 people, 200 or 1,000! We’d like to help make your event a success, so do get in touch. We are delighted to be supporting Great Ormond Street Hospital’s Theatres for Theatres appeal which aims to raise £4 million to fund two new state-of-the-art operating theatres to be used by the Hospital’s Neurosciences team. These new operating theatres will ensure that more children will get the specialist treatment they need. The team here at the White Rock Theatre will be raising money for this exciting appeal and we hope that our audiences will also show their support. Details of how we are helping can be found on our website and I hope that when you see a collecting bucket or tin with the Great Ormond Street Hospital logo on it, you will support us in supporting Theatres for Theatres. Your generosity will have a real effect on the lives of the children at Great Ormond Street Hospital.

The White Rock Youth Theatre is an exciting project which gives young people the opportunity to develop a wide range of skills, both theatrical and personal. It’s a great way to meet people, have fun and learn about the performing arts. The Youth Theatre is divided into age-groups and the groups meet weekly during each of three terms. Each term focuses on a different area of theatre performance including; musical theatre, physical theatre, monologues and improvisation. From the weekly classes, students often progress to the Easter and Summer Youth Projects – intensive periods of work which culminates in a fully staged production. In 2010, the Youth Theatre’s production of the musical Our House received rave reviews from the press and audiences alike. The projects give youth theatre members the opportunity to work on other aspects of theatre including production, direction and lighting. Several members of the White Rock Youth Group have gone on to pursue a career within the arts; others have gone on to higher education in this field – or simply developed a life-long hobby.
The Youth Theatre is split in to three age-groups: The Pebbles 1 8–12 years Saturday morning 10 am–12 noon The Pebbles 2 8–12 years Saturday afternoon 12.30pm–2.30pm The Stones 13–16 years Saturday afternoon 1 pm–3 pm The Rocks 16–21 years Wednesday evening 7pm–9 pm For further information about the White Rock Theatre Youth Theatre please contact Tegan Cowan on 01424 462 287 or email tegan@whiterocktheatre.org.uk Cost is £70 per term payable in advance WRYT is accredited to the National Association of Youth Theatres
