Kristen Ellis Tyree is Bride of Samuel Wall Kristen Ellis Tyree and Samuel Leigh Wall II were united in marriage on Saturday, May 18, 2013 in a 6 p.m. double ring ceremony at Leamon Rogers Memorial Chapel in Lake Waccamaw. The bride is the daughter of Ricky and Judy Tyree of Lake Waccamaw. She is the granddaughter of the late Ellis Devine “Butch� Meares Jr. of Fair Bluff, the late Patricia Elvington Meares of Nichols, S.C., and Connie E. Meares of Fair Bluff. She is also the granddaughter of the late James Orby Tyree of Whiteville, the late Shirley Smith Solomon of Calabash, and Elnora E. Tyree of Whiteville. The groom is the son of Leigh Wall of Myrtle Beach, S.C. and Tim and Dina Brown of Whiteville. He is the grandson of Harold and Glenda Fipps of Chadbourn and Lonnie and Nanthalyn Wall of Burlington. Kristen is a graduate of Waccamaw Academy and received a Bachelor of Science in psychology at UNC Pembroke. She is seeking a Master of Arts in professional school counseling and is employed by Columbus County Schools as a school counselor. Samuel is a graduate of Whiteville City Schools and Horry Georgetown Technical College. He received an Associate in Applied Science with a major in nuclear medicine technology and is employed by Cape Fear Heart Associates as a nuclear medicine technologist.
The double ring ceremony was officiated by Reverend Timothy Pittman and Reverend Roger Coffey. Music was provided by violinist Joshua Faircloth of Fayetteville, pianist Rachel Smith of Whiteville, organist Rebecca Gregson of Lake Waccamaw and soloists Kayla Bullard of Clarkton and Terry Dudney of Whiteville. The bride was escorted by her father and given in marriage by her parents. She wore an ivory Allure Couture fitted, strapless gown in English net with a sweetheart neckline, embroidered flower and lace appliqués with a beautiful sweep train. The bridal gown was accented with a Swarovski crystal and pearl belt. Her one-tier cathedral length veil featured a lace appliqué edge accented with crystals and pearls. She carried a bouquet of pink peonies, white hydrangeas and green bells of Ireland wrapped in pink silk ribbon. A diamond and sapphire brooch, which belonged to the bride’s great-great grandmother, adorned her bouquet. The matron of honor was Heather Reaves of Lake Waccamaw and Anne-Rainey Falls of Tabor City served as maid of honor. Attending bridesmaids were Caroline Scott of Fair Bluff and Lauren Strickland of Fair Bluff, cousins of the bride, Autumn Callihan of Clarkton, Megan Keith of Jacksonville, Jessica Manning of Wilmington and Brittni Sealey of Chadbourn, friends of the bride. Junior bridesmaids were Eden Brown and Kristina Murrell of Whiteville, sisters of the groom. The attendants wore Sophia Tolli strapless taffeta full-length gowns with sweetheart necklines, asymmetrically ruched bodice in indigo blue with a corset back.
Honorary bridesmaids were Mary Beth Hayes of Stedman and Ashley Strickland of Raleigh, cousins of the bride. They wore strapless knee length dresses with sweetheart necklines, ruched bodices, corset backs and dramatic ruffled hemlines. The flower maid was Emrick McMillen of Greensboro, cousin of the groom. She wore an indigo blue taffeta dress with flower appliqués designed like the bridesmaids’ gowns. Morgan Benson, cousin of the bride, served as flower girl. She wore an ivory floor length dress in shantung silk with an indigo blue monogrammed sash. The best man was Leigh Wall, father of the groom. Groomsmen were Zach Brown and Adam Murrell of Whiteville, brothers of the groom; Ricky Tyree of Wilson, brother of the bride; Edward Clifton of Albany, N.Y. and Trey Fipps of Gaffney, S.C., cousins of the groom; Bradley Cutrell of Fair Bluff and Brian Sykes of Wilmington. Junior groomsmen were Eric Dudney and Ryan Dudney of Whiteville and Dylan Fipps of Gaffney, S.C., cousins of the groom. Ring bearers were McKenzie Horne of Wilmington and Parker Hayes of Stedman, cousin of the bride. Program and registry attendants were Gary and Terrie Tyree, aunt and uncle of the bride, and Alyssa Benson and Carina Garcia, cousins of the bride. The wedding was directed by Jan Walters Hardee of Tabor City. Following the ceremony a reception was hosted by the bride’s parents at Vineland Station in Whiteville. Music and entertainment was provided by Terry Basobas of Play That One DJ. The reception was catered by Joe’s Barbecue Kitchen. Mary Horne of Whiteville made and served the five-tier wedding cake. Following the honeymoon to Negril, Jamaica the couple now resides in Whiteville.
Celebrations A meet and greet party was held in Lake Waccamaw for the couple on July 4 hosted by the bride’s family. An engagement party on Sept. 22 at Grande Dunes in Myrtle Beach, S.C., was hosted by Sonya and Bruce Carrell, Sherri McMillen and Leigh Wall. On April 6 a couple’s dinner party catered by The Todd House was held in North Myrtle Beach, hosted by Jenna and Cleve Cox, Stan and Holly Falls and Anne-Rainey Falls. Family and members of the Chadbourn Pentecostal Holiness Church hosted a bridal shower honoring the couple on April 14. A bridal shower at Old Dock Elementary School was hosted by the bride’s co-workers. The faculty and staff at Nakina Middle School held a bridal shower for Kristen in April. A bachelorette party was hosted by the bridesmaids on the weekend of May 3 at Myrtle Beach, S.C. A lingerie shower at the Grande Dunes in Myrtle Beach, S.C., was hosted by AnneRainey Falls and Heather Reaves. A derby hat bridal luncheon for the bride was held May 5 at Grande Dunes Members Club in Myrtle Beach, S.C., hosted by Sonya Carrell, Lisa Farmer, Tina Hollis, Mary Horne, Doris Jeffreys, Connie Meares, Terrie Tyree, Sophia Scott and Allison Taylor. An ice cream social and monogram shower was held poolside in Stedman on May 11, hosted by Zack and Marybeth Hayes, Dan and Alisa Hayes, Caroline Scott and Neil and Sophia Scott. The rehearsal dinner was hosted by the groom’s parents on May 17 at Chadbourn Pentecostal Holiness Church. A wedding celebration party for the couple was held in Greensboro, given by Mr. and Mrs. Bruce Carrell, Sherri McMillian, Mr. and Mrs. Lonnie Wall, and Leigh Wall.
