3. Lion and Unicorn, Inc. reserves the right to withdraw any property at any time before the fall of the hammer in its sole and exclusive discretion.
4. Unless otherwise announced by the auctioneer at the time of sale, all bids are per lot as numbered in the printed catalog. Lion and Unicorn, Inc. reserves the right to determine any and all matters regarding the order, precedence or appropriate increment of bids or the constitution of lots.
5. The highest bidder acknowledged by the auctioneer shall be the purchaser. In the event of any dispute between bidders, the auctioneer shall have the sole and final discretion either to determine the successful bidder or to re-offer and resell the article in dispute. If any dispute arises after sale, the Company’s sale record shall be conclusive in all respects.
6. Upon the fall of the hammer, title to any offered lot or article will immediately pass to the highest bidder as determined in the exclusive discretion of the auctioneer. Such bidder thereupon assumes full risk and responsibility for the property sold,

Any exceptions must be made upon the Lion and Unicorn, Inc. written approval of credit prior to sale.
8. If the purchaser breaches any of its obligations under these Conditions of Sale, including its obligation to pay in full the purchase price of all items for which it was the highest successful bidder, Lion and Unicorn, Inc. may exercise all of its rights and remedies under the law including, without limitation, (a) canceling the sale and applying any payments made by the purchaser to the damages caused by the purchaser’s breach, and/or (b) offering at public auction, without reserve, any lot or item for which the purchaser has breached any of its obligations, including its obligation to pay in full the purchase price, holding the purchaser liable for any deficiency plus all costs of sale.

10. Shipping is the responsibility of the purchaser. Upon request, our staff will provide a list of shippers who deliver to destinations within the United States and overseas. Some property that is sold at auction can be subject to laws governing export from the U.S., such as items that include material from some endangered species. Import restrictions from foreign countries are subject to these same governing laws. Granting of licensing for import or export of goods from local

Unless the sale is advertised and announced as “without reserve”, each lot is offered subject to a reserve and the Company may implement such reserves by bidding through its representatives on behalf of the Consignors. Some of the lots in this sale are offered subject to a reserve. The reserve is a confidential minimum price agreed upon by the consignor and Lion and Unicorn below which the lot will not be sold. In most cases, the reserve will be set below the estimated range, but in no case will it exceed the estimates listed. A representative of Lion and Unicorn will execute such reserves by bidding for the consignor. In any event and whether or not a lot is subject to a reserve, the auctioneer may reject any bid or raise not commensurate with the value of such lot.
12. Florida sales tax will be collected accordingly. Dealers, museums, and other qualifying parties may be exempt from sales tax upon submission of a State of Florida sales tax number prior to the start of the auction.

The buyer/bidder agrees and consents to submit to the personal jurisdiction in the state and federal courts located in the venues of Miami-Dade and Broward County, Florida, United States. The prevailing party to any dispute in court related to or otherwise arising out of this agreement will be entitled to recover reasonable attorney’s fees and court costs both at the trial and appellate level.

ASTRONAUT EDGAR MITCHELL’S COPY OF SAUCER NEWS MAGAZINE, SPRING 1967
Original copy of the New York based publication, Saucer News (Vol. 14, No. 1) from Spring of 1967 (39 pages). This magazine is from the personal collection of Apollo 14 Astronaut Edgar D. Mitchell. An original copy of Saucer News is interesting enough, especially when this issue features articles from American journalist, author and paranormal researcher, John A. Keel. Keel authored the best-selling book, The Mothman Prophecies (1975), which was later adapted into a hit movie starring Richard Gere. Of particular note, on page 35 of this issue of Saucer News, there is a brief entry about recent sightings of a moth-man type of creature terrifying witnesses near Point Pleasant, West Virginia. The entry says that the sightings began the previous November (1966) and are ongoing. In addition to this early Mothman reference, this issue of Saucer News is extra-special in that it comes from the personal collection of Apollo 14 Astronaut Edgar D. Mitchell. Mitchell became a vocal advocate for the scientific study of consciousness and paranormal phenomena after experiencing space travel and walking on the moon. In his post-NASA years, Mitchell advocated for the extraterrestrial hypothesis when it came to the subject of UFOs and asserted that the portions of the government were involved with reverse engineering exotic material recovered from UFO crash sites.

ASTRONAUT EDGAR MITCHELL’S COPY OF FLYING SAUCER REVIEW (SEP./OCT.1966)
Original copy of the London based publication, Flying Saucer Review (Vol. 12, No. 5) from September/October of 1966 (33 pages). This magazine is from the personal collection of Apollo 14 Astronaut Edgar D. Mitchell. This original copy of Flying Saucer Review contains an article, A Ten Point Research Proposal, authored by one of the world’s foremost researchers on the UFO/ UAP phenomenon, Jacques Vallee. Vallee has spent a lifetime in the scientific pursuit of UFO and paranormal phenomenon. Initially an advocate for the extraterrestrial hypothesis when it came to the UFO subject, his research led him to expand his view to include more complex theories, such as a multidimensional hypothesis. Vallee’s article in this issue, offers a 10-point proposal for scientific, data-driven research of paranormal phenomena. Of note, Vallee served as the inspiration for the character of the French scientist in Steven Spielberg’s blockbuster hit movie, Close Encounters of the Third Kind (1977). Vallee also served as a consultant to Spielberg on the film. In addition to the article by Vallee, this issue of Flying Saucer Review is extra-special in that it comes from the personal collection of Apollo 14 Astronaut Edgar D.

W. R. CASE AND SONS GEMINI AND APOLLO ASTRONAUT KNIFE M-1
One of the world’s foremost manufacturers of premium knives to develop a knife that would ultimately be stowed inside every manned U.S. spacecraft involved in the Gemini and Apollo mission series. The M-1 knife was born. The original Case Astronaut Knife M-1 was designed to be lightweight and featured a sharp cutting edge partnered with saw teeth on the back side. The blunt base of the knife’s blade was capable of prying items from terrain. The handle was made of an ultra-lightweight synthetic which was found to withstand a hard impact without shattering. It also exuded no fumes, a feature that was critical to maintaining the purity of the air quality within the spacecraft. The knife’s most practical applications can be derived from its stowed location inside the ship’s Command Module, where it resided with other essential gear as part of a survival pack. The items inside were to be used in the event the capsule splashed down off-course after re-entering Earth. In all, the Case Astronaut Knife M-1 was carried on every manned Gemini and Apollo space flight since Gemini 3’s Molly Brown with astronauts John Young and Gus Grissom. Additionally, the M-1 traveled to the Moon and back nine times from 1968-1972 as part of NASA’s Apollo program. In 1966, Case issued a special limited-edition of the Case Astronaut M-1 knife in a commemorative shadow box display. In total, only 2,492 were made available to the public. The plaque affixed to the front of the shadowbox reads. Astronauts’ Knife – M-1. This knife is manufactured by W.R. Case & Sons Cutlery Company Bradford Pennsylvania in conjunction with NASA for the Manned Spacecraft Projects Gemini and Apollo. This item has its original box. Box measures: 8.5”L x 20.75”W x 2.75”H.

Several forts are shown, including Fort Ticonderoga, along with a very good path east & west next to the drown’d lands. One of
the trails is labeled Dieskau’s Path referring to the route taken by French and Indian forces under the command of German Baron Ludwig August Dieskau and British and Colonial troops under Sir William Johnson that resulted in a series of skirmishes and engagements known collectively as The Battle of Lake George.
