There is a cacophony of slums sounding off somewhere i know because i heard them; a ho hum of stillness in the serene sacrament of bullets/sirens, a prayer we do under trees fluorescent tied to streetlights timed to perfection for swarms of young ones packing and posted posing with pistols hands spread out like crosses are contingent on the traffic beating down the bend of avenues with corpses for names it drips slick down something like mercury retrograde happened here, something that

made us believe in the burning of death in these nostrils, lurking around the traces of whatever was once in the stoops of ghosts trapped in tales, tales of Haring’s in train cars tripping through the Bronx, leaving leather jackets, no sleeves and patches sewn in dragging behind: the markers and identifiers of long ago broken windows tapping doors, evicted from the memories watching the blood drip from the shards

REMINISCE

Aching nostalgia sits in my chest filling me up with emptiness.

Seeking incessant moments of bliss.

Reaching and grabbing for vestiges.

Invisible residue of a time that used to exist.

An entity missed.

Tummy flutters, a butterfly kiss.

Lifted and drafted by a vanishing mist.

Left a droplet of hope lying in remnants of scent as a brush of comfort sits on my lips.

Open my eyes‌ then it’s gone again.

ECSTASY

Tune out the surround sound, feel that downbeat.

No one around except you and me.

Light touch, warmth seeps right through me, trickling down my spine to the tip toes of these two feet.

I forget to breathe just to keep energy between these cheeks.

Seems like a dream, but we’re not sleep.

Lock eyes hoping time will freeze.

Wrapped up in a realm of ecstasy.
