It seems like this accessory was one of the most prevalent ones in the S/S18 fashion collections. Acting as a purse and a belt, this accessory is a must have for Spring 18 (Or whenever you can get your hands on it). Time to give the cross body bag a break, a new trend has landed as our new it-bag obsession! This trend, like many other accessory trends are important for buyers because women & men are always looking for new ways to reinvent their wardrobes without having to totally buy new clothing pieces. Accessories play a huge part in reinventing old looks. For that reason I think this product will sell. Also, because most luxury brands produce a majority of their sales from accessories (belts, hats, handbags, jewelry etc.) handbag trends usually catch on much easier because they’re the cheaper trend to buy. I think stores that carry luxury & bridge market goods would want to buy into this trend. Places that sell high end items with youthful appeal. Places like Nordstrom, Acne Studios, and of course more mass-market retailers because is it really a trend if it’s not sold at Forever 21?

Effortless sophistication will always be on trend, and grid print blazers are the Fall & Winter 2017 manifestation of that. It’s no surprise that blazers in this specific print are seen on fashion girls everywhere. First spotted on the Fall 2017 runways of Off-White, Alexander Wang, and more, celebrities all over are wearing this trend, making it a necessary wardrobe staple for Fall & Winter 2017. Pair your grid print blazer with fun-colored footwear or pants for those days when you want to casualize the very sophisticated print.

Buyers should take advantage of this trend because the print is versatile enough to pair with almost anything already in consumer’s wardrobes and it’s a classic silhouette and print that won’t go out of style. Retailers that should buy this trend include J Crew, Ralph Lauren, and Neiman Marcus because their customers seem to appreciate more sophisticated prints & silhouettes like this one.

WHITE BOOTS? RIGHT BOOTS.

OFF WHITE
Talk about fresh. This shoe trend is huge right now and will be for the next few seasons. White leather shoes (pumps and boots) have been seen in very many street style looks for the SS18 fashion weeks. They’re so versatile and very chic, so I’m not surprised. Buyers should buy this trend because it is proven to be one that influencers appreciate, so it’s likely that their customers will too. The color white, especially seen in shoes, has always been a representation of fresh, chic, and high-end style consumers know this and I think it is another reason they’d be willing to buy it. Stores like ASOS, Barney’s, and ALDO should all be taking Shiona Turini advantage of this trend because I think that their customers would be more willing to purchase it.

YSL began the craze when they released their gleaming, slouchy boots seen on celebrities like Rihanna, Cardi B, and Celine Dion. For those of us who prefer a less conspicuous attempt at that YSL slouchy boot trend, there are some more minimal options; leather and suede, maybe? Buyers should buy this trend because I think the silhouette of the boot is new & fun, but consumers want to purchase ones they can wear more often, (and actually afford.) The trend also does it’s task of keeping you warm while being fashionable. Retailers like Neiman Marcus, Bloomingdale’s, and Barney’s should take advantage of the window of opportunity YSL has provided and buy into this trend. I think these retailers should consider buying this trend because I see them as the type of retailers who would carry designers daring enough to create this trend.

DRESSES OVER PANTS.
Kahlana Barfield
Leandra Medine Elaine Welthroth Fashion girls are truly teaching us how to make the most of each piece in our wardrobe by turning every item into a “transitional” piece. It’s officially fall, and we’ve found yet another way to turn those summer dresses into year-round show stoppers. Just pair them with a pair of pants. Wide leg pants seem to be a favorite but straight legs and skinnies will work as well. Buyers should style product based on this trend because when consumers look to brands, they want to see new & innovative ways to wear pieces over and over again. Stores like ZARA, ASOS, & Farfetch should practice this styling trend because it is something that I think will resonate well with both millennials & mature consumers. This trend will also look appealing to value driven & comfort driven consumers who want to make the most of their wardrobes .
FLORALS, FOR SPRING? GROUNDBREAKING.
Zimmermann
Cushnie Et Ochs
Giorgio Armani
Marni
A sarcastic Miranda Presley once said, “Florals? For Spring? Ground breaking.” As uninventive as it seems, we’ve been spotting this trend on the runways of some major Spring/Summer 2018 collections. But I guess I can resonate as to why this is: there’s no season quite like Spring to amp up the amount of florals in your wardrobe, even if it has been done before a million times. S/S18 Fashion week collections such as Cushnie Et Ochs and Zimmermann chose to debut this trend in their collections and Giorgio Armani chose to present the trend in a very abstract way. Buyers should buy into this trend because well, let’s face it, while floral print isn’t a revolutionary print, it certainly is a staple for spring. And the majority of consumers see it as such. Stores like Club Monaco and Self Portrait (who is known for carrying items that exude this level of romance & daint) should buy into this trend for Spring 2017. I also think that Adidas should buy into this trend. They’ll likely incorporate it in a less traditional way,

Let’s face it, rules were meant to be broken. Cliché, yes, but this trend isn’t. Some of our favorite fashion girls are wearing white, and they’re are doing it well. My latest style discovery is the color combination, off white and pure white. This color recipe, so effortless and chic, is making a major impression on style influencer’s and runways this year. I think that retailers should buy into the off white end pure white color combination because we live in a time where fashion rules are followed no longer. The trend is in the early adopter stage, and once spring reappears, this trend will be more evident than ever. Shiona Turini IG: @whowhatwear
Brands such as Club Monaco, Rag & Bone, and Balmain should consider styling with this color combination because it is elevated and forward.
