This project focuses on the design of an oďŹƒce headquarters for the client, Anna Purna Pictures, in the historic Fire Proof Storage Building in Knoxville. The design is inspired by the symbiotic relationship between the bobtail squid and bioluminescent bacteria. Where the inhabitant brings the space through lighting systems and transparent movement.

Layer One: Parasitic Roof
Layer Two: Pop Out Windows
A three part intervention- comprised of a parasitic roof, tentacle-like tunnels, and popout windows-creates intrigue, promotes active discovery, and provides areas of refuge. Layer Three: LIGHT
TUNNELS
A tunnel system ďŹ lls the central portion of the space acting as the primary circulation path. A wire mesh frame gives the shape and support necessary to the tentacle-like tunnels. The exterior of the tube is in a frosted glass that allows light and visibility both ways. This keeps the tunnel light even though completely enclosed. LED lights are placed in between the mesh and the glass. They are motion activated and track users are they move up or down through the space.

This project focuses on the design of an artist-in-residence for the client, Deb Schmerler, in the historic Candoro Marble Building in Knoxville. The design is inspired by the graphic design work of the artist using simple geometric forms and spaces in series. The space consists of a public gallery and a private residence. However, the goal of the design is to blur the line between public and private as the artist is put on display. Through the use of glass- transparent and one-way- we are able to manipulate sight in and out of the residence.
