“Living in D.C. has been developmentally priceless. I have had the chance to experience and speak to people in a variety of fields and careers, which has helped me come to know the direction I intend my life to go in. This has further inspired me to seek a life focused on serving humanity. Nadia Sarfraz | Smithsonian Internship Semester, Whitworth Honors Program

“Learning about Christianity’s roots in England and Scotland increased my knowledge of the history of Christianity there, and allowed me to experience and see, firsthand, the culture in the U.K. I had an opportunity to speak with locals about their business and overall economy in the region. The trip provided a global perspective, which is a necessity in today’s world.” Hunter Smit | Christianity in Britain (pictured left)
“I got to see 10 Broadway shows and three other performances around the New York area. We got to be a part of a site-specific performance in which I got to teach a ballet class on the actual streets of New York. We also got a backstage tour of The Lion King on Broadway. We would spend our days taking professional theatre workshops and wandering the city; our nights seeing theatre. It was an amazing experience I’ll never forget.” Emily Gjovik | The Actor’s Experience, New York (pictured right)

Spain
“Even though my Spanish felt meager at the outset, the women with whom I worked welcomed me into their homes and gladly shared their stories with me despite the language barrier. I was surprised by how quickly I was embraced, as a foreigner with broken Spanish, by everyone I encountered. It was the most profoundly grace-filled experience I’d ever had.” Hannah Howell | Central America Study & Service Program Tanzania

EXCHANGE PROGRAMS Find a home away from home through Whitworth’s expansive list of exchange partners and programs. Study for a semester or year at one of our partner schools in Europe or Asia, or take part in our exchange program consortium ISEP, which offers over 150 programs in Europe, Africa, Asia, Australia and the Americas. Additionally, our affiliation with IES Abroad and the CCCU Consortium opens the door to even more programs – including internships! We know affordability is key, and that’s why for most exchange programs, financial aid is applicable and students pay standard Whitworth tuition and housing costs.

“I visited sandy beaches, swam with whales, hiked up active volcanoes, attended music and religious festivals, and much more. I learned new and fascinating things about French history and literature that only inspired me to pursue deeper knowledge and immersion. There is something powerful in being able to speak with someone in their native tongue, and I love how much more open my world is simply because I speak a second language. Rediet Medhane | University of Reunion Island, Reunion Island, France
