What is your favourite thing about Christmas?
Do you have any Christmas traditions?
I love it when all the Christmas lights are up. It is so beautiful walking around the town at night, with the lights sparkling, windows decorated and a bonus if it has snowed! That really gets me into the Christmas spirit.
My family and I always open our presents to each other and then wait until 10am for my nan to show up so we can open even more! Oh, and we still have a ‘kiddies’ table’ even though the youngest of us is 16.
What is your favourite Christmas film? My favourite is between The Grinch and Edward Scissorhands for different reasons. The Grinch is so fun, Jim Carey is amazing and it’s so christmasy. While Edward Scissorhands is really dark but has an amazing soundtrack and story. It’s definitely a must see film!

What do you think is so special about Christmas? The lead up to it. Everyone gets so happy and there’s cheerful music everywhere. I’d go as far as to say the lead up is better than the actual day.

What is your favourite festive song? My favourite song for Christmas, has to be... ‘Do they know it’s Christmas?’ I love this song because each year there are different celebrities that sing it together and the video is always very touching for everyone to watch. What family games do you play on Christmas day? On Christmas day, my family all get together and play “Guess the Person”, where you have a sticky note stuck to your head and you have to ask questions to guess who you are, my family love it because we always choose silly ones!
How many Christmas jumpers do you have?
What are you hoping to get for Christmas?
I actually only have one. My family last year all bought matching Christmas jumpers so as you can imagine, the Robertson family look great on Christmas day!
So I guess this is my opportunity to send out a massive hint, I’d be happy with anything other than more socks really. Preferably diamonds or a go pro, hint hint.
What makes you excited for Christmas?
What is your favourite festive treat?
This is the first year I am spending Christmas not at home. My family and I are all spending Christmas in Australia. I am most excited to be swimming with sharks and then spending Christmas on the beach.
Sipping on a hot chocolate with a cheeky splash of Bailey’s while at the Christmas market just makes me feel all warm and fuzzy inside.

Rocky Horror Show THURSDAY 17TH DECEMBERSATURDAY 2ND JANUARY Let’s do the Time Warp again! Richard O’Brien’s award-winning Rocky Horror Show is back to celebrate over 40 years of success with a talented cast including Diana Vickers as Janet, Ben Freeman as Brad, Liam Tamne as Frank N. Go and get out your corsets and become a “Sweet Transvestite” with the gang! Richard O’Brien’s Rocky Horror Show was first performed on 19th June 1973 at the Royal Court Theatre in London. The show has had sold-out success all over the world including in Australia, Japan, Germany and more. SEEING IS BELIEVING
DYNAMO 27th – 31st of January Due to high demand, Dynamo’s first ever live tour has been extended into 2016 and is now including Brighton. The Bradford-born illusionist has received great reviews for his magnificent live shows. Since hitting our screens three years ago with Dynamo: Magician Impossible, Steven Frayne has become one of the world’s best and most well known magicians. Not only has he walked across the Thames, he also managed to move someone’s tan-line across their skin with his hand. The 32 year old magician learnt his first trick from his grandfather as a teenager. He performed his tricks at every chance he got, studied magic and attended conventions to ensure he was the best magician he could be. No wonder he’s such a great performer!
Book your tickets now to see Dynamo at the Brighton Centre and prepare to be amazed! Tickets are available at www.ticketmaster.co.uk

It’s The End Of The World As We Know It The best of post-apocalyptic fiction from the page to the screen We know that most people don’t have time to sit down and read a good book about post-apocalyptic worlds with awesome leading characters, so WHM decided to give you a list of the best dystopia bookto-film adaptations. And this way you guys have no excuse when we slip in references like “I volunteer as tribute!”
V FOR VENDETTA
A CLOCKWORK ORANGE
In the year 2020, London is a police state run by a fascist government. On the 5th of November, a vigilante named V (Hugo Weaving) fights the higher power and uses terrorist tactics to scare the government, promising to return a year later to blow up parliament. That same night he rescues Evey (Natalie Portman) from the police for staying out past curfew but gets knocked out whilst escaping. V takes Evey home with him, forcing her to stay with him until his plan is completed. So remember, remember the 5th of November, the gunpowder treason and plot. I know of no reason why the gunpowder treason should ever be forgot.
This controversial cult classic containing graphic violence and sexual scenes follows the story of Alex DeLarge, leader of a gang of thugs he calls his “droogs”. Alex and the gang engage in “ultraviolence”, crippling a writer and fighting a rival gang. Alex’s droogs want more and after he asserts himself the alpha, things take a turn for the worse. If your a fan of unnecessary violence and juvenile characters, this 1971 dystopian crime film will be right up your street.
THE HUNGER GAMES With the final instalment released in cinemas just weeks ago, now is a great time to binge watch the first three films before heading to your local cinema to get your rebel on. The Hunger Games follows the story of Katniss Everdeen (Jennifer Lawrence) as she fights the Capitol’s system of forcing children from the 12 Districts to fight to the death for their entertainment. Of course, there is a love triangle between fellow District 12 tribute Peeta and best friend Gale but who will she choose? And can Katniss save her family and friends from President Snow’s reign and remove the District system? I guess you’re just going to have to watch the girl on fire co-starring Josh Hutcherson, Julianne Moore and Liam Hemsworth.

DIVERGENT Tris Prior is a girl in a faction she doesn’t belong, where selflessness is second nature and other people always come first. Before she takes part in the Choosing Ceremony, Tris must take a test to see where she belongs. Little does she know that she doesn’t belong in one place, she belongs in all factions because... She’s a Divergent. When it comes to the time she can decide which faction she will spend the rest of her life in, she chooses Dauntless; a faction for the fearless and the brave. With the help of Four, Tris beats the tests to hide the fact she’s a Divergent from the authorities as they plot to get rid of anyone with the traits of all five factions (selflessness, bravery, candor, intelligence and peaceful). When Jeanine Matthews turns the whole city into an army with a shot that doesn’t work on Divergents, Tris and Four must pretend to be one of the mindless soldiers to defeat Jeanine. Can the two do it with the help of everyone who’s dedicated to protecting the Divergents including Tris’ family?

Creating the cosy look When it comes to the winter months, we think of evenings spent with family and friends drinking hot chocolate and enjoying the warmth of the great indoors. We rely on our homes to provide us with comfort in this weather. Icy temperatures keep the majority of us cooped up indoors and when we do brave the chilly winter temperatures we love
to return home to a cuddly throw and warm atmosphere to enjoy while snuggling up in front of the telly. Adding table lamps with shades in warm colours or a selection of candles increase the effect, filling your rooms with warmth and comfort. Try candles with Christmas scents for that extra festive touch.

Presents
N W O FL WHM gets the chance to interview Flown’s Sheana Brandel who performs and codirects the circus show, which is coming up at Brighton Dome this December.
In a short summary, what is the show ‘Flown’ all about? ‘Flown’ is about a circus artist that is trying to put on a show for an audience but things keep going wrong. It is also about showing the actors’ thoughts and feelings through the process. What role are you playing in ‘Flown’? We basically all play ourselves in the show; it’s very human and down to earth. We talk a lot about our experiences and things that are going on in our lives, while some of us fly around, doing aerial circus. I work on a steel hoop as a duet with my partner and he counterweights me. So if I go up into the air, he will then come down on a pole, which helps to lift me up higher. In the show I also get to sing songs and play the cello. How did the show get created? The show was created by the cast but originally came from a conversation between two people who were
16

commissioned for the circus at Glastonbury in 2011. From there we brought a cast of artists together and the show was devised by everybody.
out on the road. The show has grown within the last four years. Each year we rehearse it, develop and change things such as the music and some of the cast.
It wasn’t something that I actually auditioned for! At the moment I am the co-director of the company.
“It is very human and down to earth. We talk a lot about our experiences and things that are going on in our lives.”
How popular is the show? It’s doing really well! We made it in 2011 and did our first proper tour in 2013 before winning The Total Theatre Award at the Edinburgh Fringe festival. In 2014 we toured around the UK where we decided to take it out to Sweden. This year we were at the Brighton Festival performing in the Theatre Royal, this year we had a tour in Wales, and we have just brought it to the Brisbane Festival in Australia. People seem to love it where ever we go, which is brilliant. Where is the furthest you have travelled to perform in a show? The furthest would be the Brisbane Festival in Australia. We just finished a two week run a few weeks ago and now we are enjoying the holidays courtesy of the show in Brisbane. How long have you been in the theatre industry for? I have been a circus artist since I trained at the age of 18, twenty years ago.
they clap at every trick. You never quite know how it is going to be when you perform in a new place. Has there been a favourite place that you have performed? When I was touring with another company for a few years, we took a show to my hometown Cork in Ireland and my 98 year old godmother came to see. The Irish were just amazing, they were so up for it when we toured Ireland, but particularly in Cork. It was something that I never imagined would happen and I got to perform there, that was really a high point for me.
What is the most exciting bit about performing?
What advice would you give to aspiring performers?
That’s a good question. It’s brilliant being on stage and there’s a good atmosphere created between the stage and the audience, which is amazing. It is really nice to see how audiences act in different places. The audience in Brisbane were completely different to the audience in Brighton. It seems like there is a cultural difference where you go to perform, like the French know the circus so they clap at certain points in an act, but in Australia
Just go for it! Take any opportunities that arise and don’t limit yourself to just one role, try out as much as you can!
Brighton Dome Concert Hall Saturday 19 – Sunday 27 December 2015 3pm & 7.30pm (Sat 19 & Sun 20), 7.30pm (Mon 21 & Tues 22) , 7pm (Wed 23) , 5pm (Sat 26) , 3pm & 7pm (Sun 27) Buy tickets from £10 at the Concert Hall
How do you prepare yourself for the show? I have a really long warm up and I do a little bit of a rehearsal with my partner. I always like to go in the air before a show, even if it’s a just a couple of minutes on the equipment. It helps to warm up my grip. We then go into make-up, and have a group moment where we all come together and put our hands on top of each other. I also like to be quite nervous as it gives me the energy and adrenaline for when I go out on the stage. I’m then really focused and ready to do the show. How long do you have to rehearse for? Rehearsing for a show is a lot different to rehearsing as an actress because of what I do. You need to maintain that physical strength and to develop a lot of new things. You need to train weekly. This year I think we did three weeks of training in April and May before we went Article by Chloe Standen

Game Night
Reminding you why the classics shouldn't be forgotten With the Holiday season upon us, we are getting out the woolly jumpers, decking the halls and roasting chestnuts on open fires. Okay, so we’ve never actually roasted any chestnuts on an open fire before, but we’ve been singing about it in the office quite a lot recently. The other thing we do at this time of year is dust off the family board games. With who knows how many new board games being released every year, gadgets, gizmos and games consoles will feature on many wish lists it’s refreshing to pull out the classics and still have a jolly good time. The great thing about games night is they get everyone involved and interacting with each other, Christmas wouldn’t be Christmas without settling down to an evening in front of the open fire with professor plum and colonel mustard.
Monopoly is probably one of the most well-known family games around, always good for a little heated discussion and usually ends up with the board being slung across the front room but a good laugh none the less. Make sure you keep your cool and remember.. It’s just a game. Start at go, roll the dice and see who can build houses and hotels the fastest, you know how it works!

Jenga is a nerve-wracking combination of excitement and tension as the tower begins to wobble it will have everyone on the edge of their seats. Our top tip is to play with people who are more of an emotional wreck than you. Or more drunk.
"it's refreshing to pull
out the classics and still have a jolly good time" Become detectives and solve the mystery, which of six characters did the deed with which of six weapons in which of nine rooms. Sharp eyes and advanced powers of elimination are the strategy for cluedo. 324 possible solutions make murder fun for all the family.
With an estimated 30,000 games of scrabble starting around the world every hour, that’s a lot of rainy evenings and family gatherings ruined by whether ‘Za’ is a legitimate word or not, to avoid debates about the existence of the word formed, purchase yourself a scrabble dictionary and resolve all linguistic conflicts.
Charades, WHM’s fave and with no purchase necessary this bargain of a game will without a doubt get everybody laughing with a little help from granny trying to mime out 50 shades of grey… Absolutely hilarious especially after a couple of Sherries.
So, by all means get stuck into the latest video game release this Christmas but hopefully our little reminder has injected you with enough nostalgia to get you clambering into the loft in search of the oldies. Gather your family, your pals or anyone who fancies a bit of friendly competition really. Have fun!

Ginger & Spice & all th ings nice
The gingerbread is a seasonal favourite in the UK. This year opt for a festive and tasty Christmas tree to impress all the family!
Top Tips • Keep the dough consistent If it is too wet it won’t roll out nicely and will spread during the bake. If it is too dry, it will crumble when you roll it out and will crack when baking. • Don’t over knead the dough Or let it get too warm, otherwise it will be very hard to work with. • Chill the dough Once you have rolled out the dough, chill in the fridge for 10 minutes. That will give it time to relax and firm up.

Gingerbread Recipe 1 2 3
What you need For the gingerbread: 250g unsalted butter 200g dark muscovado sugar 7 tbsp golden syrup 600g plain flour 2 tsp bicarbonate of soda 4 tsp ground ginger Various sized star biscuit cutters or cut out your own templates
For the icing: 1 egg white 250g icing sugar, plus Extra to dust Silver balls
4 5 6 7
Heat oven to 200C/fan 180C/gas 6. Melt the butter, sugar and syrup in a sauce pan. Mix the flour, bicarbonate of soda and ground ginger into a large bowl, then stir in the butter mixture to make a stiff dough. If it won’t quite come together, add a tiny splash of water. Put a sheet of baking paper on your work surface and roll out about one quarter of the dough to a thickness of 1cm. Cut out one of your sections, then slide the gingerbread (still on its baking paper), onto a baking sheet. Repeat with remaining dough. Bake all the sections for 12 minutes or until it is just a little bit darker around the edges. Take the gingerbread out and leave it to cool for a few minutes, then trim around the templates again for sharp edges. Then leave to cool completely.
Finishing Touches 1
Put the egg whites in a large bowl, sift in the icing sugar, then stir to make a thick, smooth icing. If it is very runny, pop in the fridge for 15 minutes for it to cool.
2 Spoon into a piping bag with a small nozzle. 3 Take the gingerbread base and draw icing in a swirl in the middle, then place your largest gingerbread star on top.
4 Draw icing around the edge of the star to your preferred 5 6 7 8
design. Add a silver ball to each point. Finally draw icing in a swirl into the middle again for the next star. Repeat until you come to the last star layer. For the star on top, cover it in icing and place silver balls for decoration.
Pop a blob on the last star layer and place the final star and hold for a few minutes. Finally sprinkle ice sugar over the gingerbread tree, ready as a beautiful and tasty centrepiece for Christmas!
any left? Use leftovers for star shaped gingerbread biscuits, which I’m sure guests or Santa wouldn’t mind!

N
orway has some of the most beautiful views in the world from its Scandinavian glaciers and mountains to the deep coastal fjords. If you’re thinking of escaping the traditional Christmas with your family and trying something different, Norway is without a doubt a once-in-a-lifetime destination. It is by far one of the most stunning countries on earth. With so much snow, skiing isn’t just a pastime in Norway; it is a year round activity that is celebrated as the country’s national sport. Winter has got to be the best time of year to go with the skiing season lasting up to 6 months and a variety of ski resorts and ski runs that are suitable for first time skiers, as well as those more experienced. One thing that makes the skiing experience so amazing for everyone in Norway is the breath taking landscapes and untamed scenery. For those adrenaline junkies that don’t find skiing fast enough, pass it over to a team of huskies that will pull you around at neck breaking speed. Dogsledding is one of the most popular activities in Norway, hosting the longest dog races in Finnmarksløpet. You will get the chance to go into the heart Sámi territory – home to indigenous tribes, where you can dine and experience some
traditional Norwegian food and watch reindeer’s roaming freely in the fields. Of course a holiday to Scandinavia wouldn’t be complete without a glance at the Northern Lights, created by solar flares drawn to the magnetic circle of the North Pole. There is no guarantee that you will experience this first hand, but there are a number of spots in the north of Norway where you might be lucky enough to see them.

Make sure you have booked your flights correctly and you have your passport with you.
If you enjoy being in the snow, why not try horse riding? Some might think that horse riding is just for grassland and the beach, but you’ve got it wrong. These horses are well equipped and they know how to deal with the cold. Experience galloping across glistening snow and take in the surroundings. If you have never ridden before, don’t fear! You will get the chance to sit in a horse driven-sleigh through the countryside.
3
Make sure you do some research before you get there, as there will be a lot to see and lots to do, so planning ahead will help you to make the best of your holiday.
Your time in Norway will be an unforgettable experience and sharing this with your family at Christmas time will make it extra special. To get some great deals for your holiday, visit Lastminute.com or Lowcostholidays. com and find the best deal that suits your requirements.

Spotlight Management Group was established two years ago with the aim of working with clients overseeing social media and advertising campaigns, conveniently using their in house modelling agency. The company train models with little to no experience until they have the confidence and skill to do paid work. 80% of the models represented by Spotlight Management are internationally published and others have been finalists in nationwide modelling competitions.
